After becoming local celebrities and winning the latest season of The Block NZ, what else is left for Lisa Ridout-Gordon and Chris Gordon? Fulfilling a long term dream and opening up The Ribz Shak, of course.
Situated in the suburbs of Island Bay, this humble takeaway restaurant definitely has something to brag about. Although the menu may appear short, it is especially sweet, offering a range of burgers, sauces, crispy onion rings, loaded fries, milkshakes and of course, it wouldn’t be The Ribz Shak without slow-cooked ribs.
Hearty recommendations for the Ribblet (a half portion of ribs, served with fries and coleslaw), the Motherclucker burger (chicken schnitzel burger with coleslaw and an onion ring) and the vegetarian loaded fries, all washed down with one of the monster milkshakes... The Brandy Snapz certainly lives up to its name.
The food, served in environmentally friendly cardboard boxes is sure to exceed expectations. The portions are massive, and although you'll be on the brink of a food coma, “you just want to keep eating even though there is nothing left”.
This little gem is a constant hive of activity and will keep you coming back for more just to try the other food they have on offer. There's a high risk of addiction so don't blame us if you can't stay away.
Although we could spend forever raving about how cool and refreshing this eatery is, one thing is for sure: they really do serve “Seriously Good Food”.
