Taste Of Auckland is going to be in full swing this weekend, and with some of the best restaurants in Auckland offering tasting plates and more than 100 wines to try, this is one event foodies won’t want to miss.
We’ve broken it down for you and are letting you know about the things you won’t want to miss at Taste Of Auckland, because no one likes to have food envy.
Adriano Zumbo
Adriano Zumbo, Australasia’s most celebrated dessert chef is heading to our shores to satisfy the sweet tooth cravings. Adriano Zumbo, of Zumbo’s Just Desserts will be showing us what he’s made of, with a live cooking demonstration at the Electrolux Taste Theatre on Friday evening at 7.30pm and Saturday afternoon at 2pm.
TSB Bank Producers Market
If you’re into local artisanal food including spreads, oils, honey and fair trade coffee, then you’ll have a ball at the TSB Bank Producers Market Stall. Give back to the local community in NZ and purchase something from the stalls that are 100% kiwi owned.
Brew Street With Kapiti Cheese
If you love cheese just as much as we do then you’ll be dying to attend Brew Street with Kapiti Cheese. It brings together some of New Zealand’s finest boutique breweries—from those brewing straight from their basement, through to those trialling new flavours. 30 Years Of The Sugar Club
Taste Of Auckland is honouring a milestone with fusion cuisine legend— Peter Gordon founding The Sugar Club 30 years ago. To celebrate, a handful of New Zealand’s most acclaimed chefs will host an evening in the Corporate Hospitality Marquee. The evening will be hosted by Peter himself; with dishes served by chefs who he has worked with, including Che Barrington (Blue Breeze Inn and Woodpecker Hill) and Pip Wylie (Onslow Bar & Eatery), and Neil Brazier (The Sugar Club). If you can’t get a corporate table you can see Peter Gordon working his magic in the Electrolux Taste Theatre on Saturday at 1pm.
Pssst! Chefs Have Some Secrets
Always wanted to know what it would be like to cook like a professional? Now’s your chance! Various sessions will run across the three days, from people Kyle Street of Culprit and Ganesh Raj and the Tasting Shed team. With six different chef’s to choose from, you’ll watch as they prepare one of their signature dishes, sharing their top secrets and you’ll enjoy matched wines.
Electrolux Taste Theatre
There’s nothing better than watching your favourites chefs do their mighty thing live. And this is exactly what you can do at the Taste Theatre. Watch as epic dishes come to life by the likes of Ryan Clarke from Miss Moonshine’s, Megan May from Little Bird Organics, Nick Honeyman from Paris Butter and Phil Clark of Phil’s Kitchen.
Magners Cider Bandstand
To complement the good food and wine you’ll taste, there’ll be live music. Maestro of funk, Peter Urlich has curated the music for the festival, with 12 bands performing. Music will include soul, jazz, funk and authentic blues. Get ready to get your groove on after a few tipples.
