Anzac Day in Sydney

ANZAC Day means something different for everyone. For some it’s about remembering the people and family who fought for us and for others it’s a day to wear rosemary and wake up before the crack of dawn. On this public holiday and long weekend it’s important to squeeze every moment out of the precious free time available so, to save time, we’ve gone ahead and scouted out the best events happening in Sydney this ANZAC Day (after you’ve attended one of the many memorial services around Sydney).

Martin Place Bar

Those who are respecting the tradition of ANZAC Day by going to the dawn service in Martin Place will be happy to know that Martin Place Bar will be hosting a Digger’s Breakfast BBQ from 5 am to 10 am on the alfresco terrace. The spread includes free-range bacon, egg rolls and gourmet sausage sandwiches with sourdough bread supplied from Sonoma Bakery. Following the dawn service proceedings and breakfast, Martin Place Bar will resume full operation, offering a vast selection of wines, beers and spirits throughout the day.

The Light Brigade

On ANZAC Day this year Woollahra toasts our Diggers in true Aussie tradition. As one of the oldest and most famous pubs in Sydney, The Light Brigade is hosting the one-day a year event of 2UP from 11am. Wash down an authentic, wood fired pizza with a token Aussie VB Schooner for only $4 (from 10am - 12pm). Doors open at 10am to welcome all who wish to remember and partake in a pub classic parmie.

Dick's Hotel

If you are looking to give back this ANZAC Day Dick’s Hotel is partnering with Young Henrys and DefenceCare Australia to raise funds for assisting current and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force and their families during times of injury, illness or crisis. Dick’s Hotel is asking patrons to dig deep and help out our soldiers while enjoying a game of 2UP, “tinnie bars” and pop-up Cajun Soul food serving braised pork buns and Creole sweet potato fries.

Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel

Watsons Bay

Head waterside to Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel this ANZAC Day in Sydney. Here you can play 2UP from midday and enjoy food and drink specials in the Beach Club all day while you kick back and listen to live music and DJs from 1pm. Oh, and there’ll be a special performance from The NSW Pipe Band at 3pm, so get ready for a ripper of a day.

West Village Petersham

Eat like the ANZACs did with a Gunfire breakfast of coffee with a shot of spiced rum and a brekkie roll at the ANZAC Day remembrance hosted by Petersham. Young Henrys will be hosting games of 2UP from midday. If breakfast with rum isn’t your thing then try the slow cooked lamb rib sandwich or Aussie burger a little later in the day.

Beer DeLuxe King Street Wharf

Celebrate the public holiday with the battle of the beers at Beer DeLuxe King Street Wharf this ANZAC Day. New Zealand and Australia go head to head with the two best brews from each country competing. Each purchase of beer counts as a vote towards the winning brew, with the voters on the winner going into the draw to win a $100 bar tab. Kick back, enjoy the day off in the CBD and take in some water views.

The Glenmore

The Rocks

The Australian Heritage Hotel and the Glenmore Hotel are teaming up this ANZAC Day to salute our Diggers. An Aussie Digger’s BBQ breakfast will be served from 6 am, including fresh bacon and egg rolls. The famous Scots Marching Band will be performing down Cumberland Street. Have a cold one and enjoy a game of 2UP in the largest outdoor arena in the CBD.

Manly Wharf Bar

If you are looking for live music on the ANZAC long weekend then head on down to the Manly Wharf hotel to hear the dazzling dance music star Roger Sanchez featured in the ‘Legends of House’ performance. Opening at 11am there is plenty of time to head over from the dawn service and have a drink special out on the wharf, watching as pennies are tossed in games of 2UP.

Woollahra Hotel

Kicking off at 11am, get stuck into 2UP alongside a $10 food menu until 5pm at this Woollahra hot spot. There'll be DJs to keep you partying well into the night. Just don't blame us or Woollahra Hotel if you feel a little bit shady on Tuesday.
