Adjusting back to a regular, old two day weekend can be tough, so we’ve provided you with things to do in Sydney this weekend for not just two days, oh no, but for four whole days! It’s what we like to call a four-day-kind-of weekend. With exclusive events from Thursday to Sunday, we’ve got you covered with lots of wine, food and more wine. Plus gin and burgers. Get ready.

Thursday 16th June

Moss Wood Winemaker's Dinner At Brigade Dining

Hello, wine lovers! Being back at work after a long weekend is exhausting, we know, so we figured that by Thursday nothing is more called for than a great, no, an exceptional glass of wine. If you are currently nodding and wanting more details, we suggest you join expert winemakers Clare & Keith Mugford for an exclusive night of food and drink of unshakeable quality at Brigade Dining. As hosts, Claire and Keith will accompany you through a range of their best wines, which will be perfectly paired to a contemporary five-course meal created just for you by Executive Chef, Marco Adler.

Bondi Natural Food + Wine Series At Icebergs Dining Room and Bar

More wine? Bondi Natural Food + Wine Series has got you covered! This Thursday, the breathtaking, world renowned Bondi Icebergs will play host to some of Australia’s most influential natural wine producers. This five-week event aims to expose the world of natural wines (which we’ve heard leave you feeling much better the next day if you end up having a glass too many) that will be helped along by a variety of bruschetta and pasta. What more could you want?

Alice McCALL Sample Sale

Pig & Pinot At 3 Weeds

Food. We are definitely in need of some food. If you’re a fan of the “wonderful, magical animal” that is the pig (quoting Homer Simpson), what better way to spend a, no doubt, chilly Thursday night than enjoying a hearty-winter meal of pig and pinot—don't worry, we didn’t forget the wine. 3 Weeds invites you to celebrate the diversity of both the pig (bacon, ham, pork chops) and the pinot grape (pinot gris, pinot rose, pinot noir) by way of a four-course meal with five accompanying wines (we like that ratio). Kick off your new and improved four-day-kind-of-weekend and set free your inner pork star.

Cancer Council NSW's City Mile Dash

Have you ever fancied a one mile (1.6km) dash over lunch? Well here’s your chance. The Cancer Council’s 2016 City Mile Dash is set to be even bigger than last year, with a spectacular event village featuring live musical entertainment, and, of course, the ever growing number of Sydneysiders stripping their corporate attire all in the name of combating cancer once and for all! Challenge yourself, or even your colleagues, to run/walk/dance the mile for a noble cause taking place in Sydney’s newest harbour foreshore playground—Barangaroo Reserve.

Pop-up Martini Bar at LOT.1

Like us, do you love to be part of something new and exclusive? Do you also love martinis? Well listen up, Belvedere (you’ve already rsvp’d haven’t you?) is launching an exclusive, one night only pop up Martini Bar at LOT.1 Sydney’s Safe Room—a basement level, yet to be opened private members room. Hendrick's takeover at The Powder Keg

Okay so we’ve covered you for wine and Belvedere this weekend, but what about gin we hear you ask? It’s true, there is nothing like a good G&T to start off the weekend, and thankfully Hendrick's Gin has officially taken over The Powder Keg (TPK) for four weeks, each Thursday and Friday, of gin, gin, gin! TPK, one of Potts Point’s top six bars, invites you to get comfy in their back bar, boasting a vast selection of gin, created to knock your socks off. Hendrick’s specials, such as the magical cucumber and rose G&T, will be on offer, along with food to keep you going. See you by the bar!

Saturday 18th June

The Night Market At Carriageworks

No one is staying in this wintery, Saturday night because Carriageworks Night Market is back one final time this Vivid. The Night Market is designed to be an evening of culinary magic, with an interactive or educational twist—You may just learn a thing or two. The theme ‘Cooking with Fire’ showcases New South Wales’ leading restaurants and chefs who will be creating inspired, bespoke offerings to satisfy our food and wine based desires. NSW is a haven for food lovers, so why not immerse yourself in a fiery night of unquestionable quality.

The KIRIN Sakaba at The Oaks

If you’re searching for an oriental twist to liven up your Saturday, head down to one of Sydney’s best-loved hotels, The Oaks. The renowned 1936 Bar at The Oaks has now launched the KIRIN pop-up, seeing the bar transform into a Japanese Garden, with traditional lanterns, bamboo arches and rice paper screens—the works. This innovative pop-up aims to recreate a Sakaba, an informal Japanese bar, and will host an exclusive menu featuring KIRIN beers and ciders, served, of course, in Japanese teapots. Anyone hungry? You will also be able to order your Japanese favourites from the bar with a twist! We love a twist.

Johnny Lobster Takes Over Annandale Hotel’s Kitchen 

The collaboration of the old-time favourite, Annandale Hotel and sought-after Johnny Lobster, was driven by the desire to bring east coast flavour to the inner west—where do I sign up? With kitchen pop-ups taking over the world, Johnny Lobster will be behind the bar and in the kitchen showcasing their creamy marine creations, including their buttery lobster rolls and juicy fried chicken, with an exclusive menu on offer for the event. According to Tom Baker, from the Johnny Lobster team, “if you’re not smashing a beer and a bucket of our famous fried chicken, you’re not doing it right.” Better do what he says.

Game of Rhones 

As you all should be well aware, winter is coming, and after sell-out events in 2015, the popular wine event Game of Rhones is back bigger and better than ever, just in time for that boozy, Sunday session that we know you all love. Game of Rhones is a celebration of the classic grape varieties from the Rhone Valley in France, featuring over 40 of Australia's best producers. You are encouraged to taste the wines on offer and cast your vote to see which wine will rule them all.  Game on!

Burger Lords Event at The Lord Gladstone

Calling all Burger Lords! Volume 1 of the Burger Lords event saw true champions take on the challenge of eating the Notorious B.I.G burger in under nine minutes. Volume 2, however, introduces the Lemmy Burger—something you have to see to believe. The Lord Gladstone, perfect for those boozy, Sunday afternoon hangouts, is proud to host this event, and invites you and your burger-loving friends to marvel at this month’s Burger Lords. And maybe even attempt the challenge yourself. Either way, good food, good company and good beer—you can’t really go wrong, and therefore our perfect wind-down to your four-day-kind-of weekend.
