The Best Places To Eat And Drink When You're Heading To Eden Park

Let’s be honest, if you’re a sports fan, and you live in Auckland, then you're more than familiar with Eden Park. While you can make do with takeaways, you can do better. Much better.

With all the amazing venues around Kingsland and Mount Eden, there is no shortage of places to grab a bite to eat.

We’ve rounded up best places to grab something to eat and drink before heading to a game.

Al’s Deli

Ah, good old Al’s. This Kingsland brew bar is the perfect place to snack before the big game. And, it's only a jaunt away from Eden Park. With burger, bagels, mac ‘n cheese and poutine on the menu you’ll be sure to get your fill. Make sure you pick up one of those doughnuts on the way out.

The Kingslander

This Kingsland institution is the best place to be before a game—if you can get a table that is. The Kingslander is the ultimate bar to get amongst the atmosphere and have a few beers while you’re at it. And, if you’re up for some food, give the shredded beef sliders or the waffle burger a go. We promise you won't leave hungry.

The Dominion

Mt Eden

For anyone coming from the other side of Eden Park, stop at The Dominion on your way through. With a similar atmosphere to The Kingslander, it is a perfect venue to get you going for the game. If you can’t stay too long, stop in for a cold brew and some pulled pork croquettes the perfect way to start the night.

Phil’s Kitchen

A modern dining choice for before a game, Phil’s Kitchen will leave you feeling so satisfied during the game. Phil’s Kitchen uses seasonal produce and adds a Kiwi twist on classic dishes. Great for getting in the spirit to cheer on the AB’s.

If Thai food is more your jam before a game, head to @Bangkok. Try a stir fry or the pad Thai if you're in a rush—you won’t leave hungry that’s for sure. If you’re after something with a bit of kick before a game, try the Penang curry or the spicy seafood salad.

If Italian more your thing then Venosa is your place. You’ll be full to brim of pasta and cheese when you leave for your evening of sport. Start off with some arancini balls and then move on to carbonara or rigatoni. You certainly won’t be picking up any doughnuts at the game.

Citizen Park

Home to beef brisket nachos, Louisiana chicken wings, and Texan chili dogs, Citizen Park is an epic place to fuel up before a big game. With Southern and South American vibes, you’ll be happy as Larry eating, drinking and soaking up the atmosphere before heading to the ground. Located on New North Road it's a hop, skip and a jump away from Eden Park.
