Perth’s Best Seafood Restaurants
Given our never-ending coastline, it’s no surprise that Perth/Boorloo has some seriously upscale seafood restaurants. And while the humble beer-battered fish and chips will always hold a special place in our hearts, it’s the slightly more elevated offerings that really get us reeling.
Indulgent seafood platters, freshly shucked oysters, delicate sashimi plates, messy seafood boils and more, there’s a whole lot of scrumptious seafood out there to tuck into. At Urban List, we’ve been fishing for the finest seafood spots the west has to offer. Here are our go-to seafood restaurants in Perth.
Madalena's
406 South Terrace, South Fremantle WA 6162

With impeccable laissez-faire service, a 170-strong wine list, and alfresco dining, there’s a lot to love about South Freo’s Madalena’s, but it’s the seafood that truly shines. Highly respected and highly skilled Head Chef Adam Rees has some serious talent when it comes to picking, preparing, and plating freshly-caught, sustainable seafood. The menu changes with seasons so there’s always going to be something new on offer. Start with some oysters and then make your way through the sparkling seafood plates while people watching on South Terrace.
Kailis Bros
101 Oxford St, Leederville WA 6007

Family owned and operated, Perth’s seafood institution Kailis Bros have been providing Perth’s kitchens—both restaurant and private—with the freshest seafood since 1929. You’ll find every kind of fish, shellfish and molluscs in the sea at the Leederville fish market, but the adjoining cafe also does a cracking fish ‘n’ chips (plus EXCELLENT seafood pasta, sizzling garlic king prawns, tuna tartare and more for when you’re feeling a little bit fancy). Pick your own produce from the fish market and the chefs will cook your catch and plate it up.
Nobu
Crown Metropol, Great Eastern Hwy, Burswood WA 6100
No list of Perth’s best seafood would be complete without the world’s most recognisable Japanese restaurant, Nobu. The go-to at Crown for special occasions, it’s Nobu’s seafood that should really be celebrated. We could write an entire article about its famed yellowtail sashimi with jalapeno and black cod miso alone, but there’s dozens of other seafood dishes on the extensive menu that deserve a look in. Don’t leave without trying the whole West Oz marron with shichimi butter, a divine dish that we come back for time and time again.

Clancy’s Fish Pub
City Beach, Fremantle, Canning Bridge

Family-friendly venues, lively atmospheres, sustainable seafood and great bang-for-buck, when it comes to seafood restaurants, Clancy’s is the full package. This WA institution has been providing fish, chips and good times to the Perth public for over thirty years. There’s now three locations all offering something a little different but all have one thing in common: sustainable seafood pub grub classics that hit the spot each and every time.
Kickin Inn
Perth CBD, Morley, Whitford

No table manners are required at this southern-style seafood feast. At Kickin Inn, bags of fresh seafood are opened and emptied directly onto the table in front of you. Armed with a bib and gloves, you’ll then make your way through the fresh pipis, whole prawns, mussels, peeled prawns, blue swimmer crabs, potatoes and more, all smothered in a cajun sauce. Shrimply irresistible.
TheCray
Belmont, Innaloo, Rockingham, Fremantle
There’s a good reason why The Cray’s Belmont location has taken out the title for WA’s Best Lobster Restaurant for three years running. The OG of the four outlets in Perth, it’s been dishing up The Cray's iconic seafood platters, pastas, and more (including fan favourite the indulgent Lobster Mornay) since 2010. There’s now four locations across Perth (and more on the way), serving upwards of 65,000 crays per year. That’s cray-cray.
