Abacus Cafe in Leederville

Leederville has always batted above average on the cafe front and in 2025, it’s clear the suburb is still swinging hard. Whether you’re craving a seriously good brew, lazy brunch with mates, or a sunny solo perch for people-watching, Leedy’s buzzing cafe scene continues to deliver. From old favourites still packing out tables to shiny new arrivals bringing fresh flair, there’s no shortage of delicious stops lining Oxford Street and beyond.

Here’s Urban List’s take on where to get your caffeine and brunch fix in Leederville right now.

Abacus

Tucked away in the stylish Electric Lane precinct, Abacus is quietly becoming one of Leedy’s go-to spots for a smooth caffeine hit and bite to eat. With terracotta tones, warm timber finishes and effortless Scandi flair, the space feels calm and curated—for me, it’s ideal for a pre-work catch-up or solo coffee moment before the rush kicks in.

The menu covers all bases with easy going favourites like bagels, toasties, healthy wraps and loaded salads, so whether you’re in for a light bite or something more filling, you’re well looked after. Coffee-wise, the batch brew is always on point, but you’ll also find a rotating lineup of espresso blends and alternative milks for the picky sippers among us. It’s the kind of place that nails the basics but still feels fresh—and a very welcome addition to the buzzing Leederville mix.

Kin Coffee

Unit 8 and 9/333 Oxford St, Leederville WA 6004

Kin Coffee makes an instant impression with its dreamy, Japanese-inspired interiors—think pale wood, clean lines and soft light pouring in from every angle. It’s the kind of spot that practically begs to be Instagrammed, but it’s not just a pretty face. The menu is small but thoughtful, with Asian-fusion flavours shining through in every bite. We’re talking soy-marinated eggs atop avo toast, chashu pork breakfast sandos and matcha granola served with creamy soy milk pudding.

There’s also a rotating list of seasonal drinks to sip on—like the strawberry matcha latte in summer or a comforting Biscoff hojicha latte come winter. Bonus points for being dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry mate along for the outing.

Cafe L.A.

Cafe L.A. brings nothing but style to the scene with its sleek, minimalist interiors—but trust us when we say the food and drinks are where it really shines. The all-day brunch menu walks the line between comfort and creativity, with classic brekkie faves alongside inspired dishes like the Miso Forest—a savoury blend of miso-sautéed wild mushrooms, poached eggs, kale, spiced spinach purée and toasted ciabatta, finished with a sprinkle of cashews. Or go all in on the 16-hour slow-cooked beef brisket, layered with curry hollandaise, crispy wonton skins and free-range eggs.

If you’re after something more in line with lunch, the lineup includes an Aussie tiger prawn pasta and a stacked satay chicken number that’s anything but basic. Drinks-wise, it’s an artisan’s fantasy: think perfectly brewed espresso, seasonal filter drops, beetroot, matcha and turmeric lattes—and for something extra indulgent, the marshmallow latte or hot choc comes topped with gingerbread whipped cream and fluffy mallows. Feeling fancy? Go for the espresso spritz or lychee blossom and add a little (non-alcoholic) sparkle to your brunch.

Gather Bakehouse

201B Oxford St, Leederville WA 6007

People are flocking to this pint-sized Leederville bakery for good reason—Gather is dishing out some of the most drool-worthy baked goods in the ‘burb, if not the whole of Perth. We’re talking loaded cookies oozing with choc chunks, biscoff swirls and gooey salted caramel centres, the kind of treats that demand a two-napkin situation. Urban List reader Laura recently took her toddler—a self-proclaimed cookie connoisseur—for a taste test, and he gave it a solid 10/10. She was equally impressed by the top-notch coffee, which delivered a serious caffeine hit.

Not a dessert person? (We don’t get you, but we see you.) There’s also savoury bagels, flaky croissants and gluten-free options to balance things out. The viral-worthy crookies and iced strawberry matcha lattes are reason enough to stop by, but what really keeps people coming back is the cosy, community vibe. It’s the kind of neighbourhood bakehouse you’ll want to visit on the daily—and probably will.

Cafe Nari

There’s no shortage of flaky, buttery brilliance coming out of Cafe Nari—an Asian-infused pastry house and cafe that’s definitely become a local obsession. Head there for a brew and you’ll find creative and viral-worthy treats like ube-filled croissants, plum and chocolate danishes, and of course, crookies. Basically, if it’s laminated, golden and slightly over the top, they’ve probably nailed it.

Beyond the pastry box, the dine-in menu is just as tempting. We’ve got our eyes (and forks) on the beef rendang croissant benedict—a rich, flavour-packed fusion of spiced slow-cooked beef, poached eggs and creamy hollandaise piled onto a buttery croissant. It’s indulgent, unique, and absolutely worth every bite. Whether you’re swinging past for takeaway or settling in for a slow brunch, odds are you’ll be back to work your way through the rest of the menu.

Mister Focaccia

You know the only thing better than bread? Focaccia—and nobody does it better than this place. The team at Mister Focaccia are bringing authentic South Italian street food to the ‘burb, with pillowy slabs of freshly baked focaccia taking centre stage. Whether you go for the mortadella and stracciatella (my fave), the full continental, or prosciutto with truffle paste, every bite is tradition and flavour melted into one delicious mouthful.

They’re serious about quality here—using only the freshest ingredients and time-honoured recipes that have been passed down through generations. And if you’ve never tried taralli before, now’s your chance. These little cracker-breadstick hybrids are shaped like tiny rings and totally addictive. I used to make the trip to Stirling IGA just to grab a bag, and fair warning—they’re impossible to stop snacking on once you start. Round it all out with a strong Italian-style coffee and you’ve got yourself a flavour-packed trip to southern Italy, no passport required.

Roasted N Toasted

285 Vincent St, Leederville WA 6007

Roasted N Toasted is all about the simple pleasures—good coffee, fresh juices, kombucha and smoothies to keep you going, and most importantly, the humble jaffle. This unpretentious hangout serves up golden, crunchy pockets of joy stuffed with all the fillings you know and love. From the BBQ brekky classic to an oozy three-cheese number, every bite hits just right. My personal favourite? The baked beans topped with mozzarella—aka the nostalgic childhood combo I am still proudly eating as an adult.

Keep an eye out for weekly specials too—like spicy mushroom or marinated pork rib—because this team loves to keep things interesting. And if your sweet tooth kicks in, you’re in luck: they stock Fat-boi treats, which means next-level brownies and totally OTT cookies that are impossible to say no to.

Still hungry? Feast on:
