Sydney’s Best Specialty Cake Shop

Earlier this year we stumbled upon Black Velvet Sydney and we instantly found ourselves in dessert heaven. Needless to say, all you sweet-toothed Sydneysiders (including us) have been a bit obsessed ever since. Yes, we would happily eat these cupcakes every day if we could, with 100 delectable flavours like lemon vodka, salted caramel and passion velvet to name but a few. It was, however, on our last visit that their custom-made cakes really caught out eye.

With designer Orlando Sanpo at the helm, Black Velvet's specialty cakes are true works of art, where wonderfully delicious flavours are combined with stunning flourishes. No matter what the celebration, be it birthdays, dinner parties, baby showers or weddings, Orlando will work his magic to fit any theme. Orlando's love of baking and passion for design resonates in every cake.

Within Black Velvet's Darlinghurst boutique, patrons are able to taste test numerous cakes and experience their delicious afternoon tea, while consulting with Orlando to create the perfect cake (did we mention it can even be vegan or gluten-free?). Yes, it's no wonder they have already been a hit with numerous high profile clients and local celebrities such as Jessica Mauboy, Guy Sebastian and Dami Im. As we approach the end of the year it seems there's one celebration after the next, so you'd better get your orders in early. Because what's a party without cake?

Plus, for those of you who are already thinking about Christmas, be sure to check out Black Velvet's adorable Christmas cupcakes and luxurious gifts. The complete range is available within the boutique or via their online store.
