Order Up From These Melbourne Bars, Restaurants And Cafes Doing Takeaway During Lockdown

So, here we are again, staring right down the barrel of another lockdown. There are at least five days ahead of too much Playstation, too much Netflix and too much time with your housemates, family or significant other. But there ways to make the most of the downtime; instead of panic buying a week’s worth of sub-par pasta, why not support your local and order in.

It’s really a win-win situation here. You’ll be helping small business put their ingredients and produce to use that would otherwise go to waste, and your roomies won’t have to stomach another of your bolognese house special. Take a look at some of Melbourne’s favourite diners, restaurants and cafes doing takeaway and delivery during lockdown, and settle in for a feast fit for royalty.

We'll continue to update the list over the coming days, and we'll be sharing the love on Instagram, too. If we've missed your local, let us know at and we’ll add them straight in.

For the first time ever, the already-institution Poodle will be slinging takeaway. Expect classics from their menu—like the Patio Burger and prawn cocktail—as well as a couple of very special numbers courtesy of mastermind head chef Josh Fry; the man has been busy dry-ageing beef in the Poodle cellar which'll be placed delicately between two buns and served as a Prime Rib Sandwich with Horseradish Cream and Cheddar Mornay. To top it off, you can also grab yourself a takeaway hot toddy or cocktail. 12pm until sold out between now and Sunday—more details via Instagram.

East Melbourne

East Melbourne's Euro-leaning diner has charmed its patrons from the moment doors opened last year, and now it's about to charm its way into your home with several menus available for pick up and delivery. A12 hour braised beef cheek Beef Bourguignon is up on offer as the hero for one of the offerings, as is a Navarin-style lamb shank for the other. Both come with oysters, and they may be some of the best in town—order via Mr Yum here.

Deeds Brewing

Glen Iris

Southside sensation, Deeds Brewing, has proven very popular since they opened their Glen Iris Brew Pub, and for good reason.

There are of course plenty of trimmings to join your main, too. Order up for delivery or take-away via Mr Yum.
