Let’s face it, at some point this weekend we’re all going to be chocolate and cross-bun-ed out. And when that happens, we’re going to want to turn to some of Auckland’s best cafes, restaurants and bars to feed us with their scrumptious, non-Eastery fare. Luckily, plenty of our fave spots will be open for your dining and wining pleasure. Who are they? Wouldn’t you like to know…?

Here’s what’s open this Easter weekend. You better be hungry—there’s more than you think!


Little Bird Unbakery, Ponsonby 

Balance out that copious consumption of choccie with a trip to Little Bird Unbakery. Their Ponsonby store is open all Easter weekend long with zero surcharge.

Charlie & George, Stonefields 

Stonefield’s Charlie & George will be in action this Easter weekend, and with no surcharge so you can enjoy a leisurely brunch without having to fork out the extra moolah.

Fact Tree Cafe, Sunnynook 

Fact Tree Cafe is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday so you don’t have to miss out on a weekend eggs bene (woot, woot!). 

Mondays Eatery, Kingsland

Treat that bod of yours to a nutritious, wholesome brekkie at Mondays Eatery in Kingsland. They’ll be serving it up from 8.30am. 

Little & Friday, Belmont, Ponsonby & Newmarket 

Head to any of these Little & Friday stores this long weekend. The doughnuts will be ready and waiting. 

Fort Greene, K Road 

If you happen to have a hankering for a damn fine sammie, Fort Greene can help you out. They’ve even got a four-cheese grilled cheese if you’re feeling a bit dustry. 

Good Day, Orakei 

Protect yourself from any bad day juju with a trip to Good Day in Orakei. You’ll be met with tasty breakfast fare and Supreme coffee. 

Philippe’s Chocolate, Grey Lynn 

We totally geddit. Your hot cross bun obsession knows no bounds and you want a fresh batch every day. Thank the heavens, because Philippe’s Chocolate is open all long weekend. 

Town Mouse, Pukekohe 

Pukekohe’s coolest little café will be cranking all weekend long. Pop by for four-hour braised lamb or an amazing veg burger. 

Coffee General, Birkenhead 

Weekends simply shouldn’t commence without caffeine. The Coffee General crew in Birkenhead will be creating the perfect flattie and filter this weekend. 

Puhoi Valley, Puhoi 

Get your weekend cheese intake with a trip to Puhoi Valley. Their café will be dishing out dairy deliciousness from 10am daily. 

Little King, Milford

Milford’s Little King will also be open this Easter weekend for all your brunching and lunching needs. 

Twisted Tomato, Pt Chevalier  

Head to Pt Chev for a meal at Twisted Tomato. Their homemade banana and choc bread French toast will hit the spot. 

Cornwall Park Café, One Tree Hill 

Go for a leisurely stroll before popping into Cornwall Park Café for a tasty feed of baked beans, smoked ricotta and poached eggs. 

Best Ugly Bagels, City Works Depot & Newmarket 

What’s a weekend without a bagel or two? Best Ugly will be churning out your bagel favourite this Easter weekend at City Works Depot and Newmarket

Catroux, Westmere 

Stop by lovely, little Catroux and get amongst a fitness bowl to balance out all the Easter treats. 

Petit Bocal, Sandringham 

This French local is set to serve their top-notch brunch, lunch and dinner menus this Easter weekend. A cheesy croque monsieur will be ready and waiting. 


The Fed, Auckland CBD 

All is well—you can still feed your poutine obsession this Easter weekend. The Fed is closed on Good Friday but will be open for the rest of the weekend. 

Depot, Auckland CBD 

Next door, Depot will be putting out sliders and oysters from 11am. 

Miss Moonshine’s, Ponsonby 

Get ready for some damn good low ‘n slow this weekend, folks! Miss Moonshine’s will be serving their meaty goodness from 11.30am

The Garden Shed, Mt Eden 

Whether you’re after an early morning brunch or scrumptious dinner, The Garden Shed has got you covered. 

The Blue Breeze Inn, Ponsonby 

Don’t worry, your weekend won’t go by without pork buns and choc pots. The Blue Breeze Inn will open for business. 

Gusto at the Grand, Auckland CBD 

Gusto at the Grand will be offering rustic Italian food at its finest thing Easter weekend. Make sure you order a side of duck fat roast potatoes. 

Woodpecker Hill, Parnell 

14-hour smoked brisket, anyone? Parnell’s Woodpecker Hill will be cooking that and the rest of their oriental-meets-smokehouse menu this weekend.

Burger Burger, Ponsonby & Newmarket 

A surcharge-free burger? Heck yes! Both Burger Burger Ponsonby and Newmarket will be open this Easter weekend from 11.30am ‘til late. 

Fish Fish, Ponsonby 

The newly opened Fish Fish will be in action from 11.30am, too! 

Miss Clawdy, Wynyard Quarter 

Lunch or dinner, whenever your fried chicken cravings emerge, Miss Clawdy will be open to cater for them. 

Bars & Pubs 

FYI, these spots won’t be serving alky on Friday and Sunday due to restrictions. 

The Cav, Freemans Bay

The Cav will be alive and pumping this Easter weekend. And the best thing about it? They’re surcharge-free!

Bedford Soda & Liquor, Ponsonby

Bedford Soda & Liquor will be shaking up their famous cocktails on Saturday and Monday. However, once the liquor laws kick in, they’ll only be open for food. Luckily, meatballs just so happen to be the perfect substitute for cocktails.  

The Lumsden Freehouse, Newmarket

Craft beer fan? Head to The Lumsden Freehouse in Newmarket on Saturday and Monday. Be there on Friday and Sunday for mac ‘n cheese, too. 

Citizen Park, Kingsland 

Round up your crew and settle in for a day of feasting at Citizen Park. They’re open from 11.30am.

The Commons, Takapuna 

Open aaall weekend, The Commons will be catering to all you Taka peeps with their tasty food and dranks.
