You say Asian fusion, we say Mix! Dishing up the delectable Asian fare we all know and love with a twist is Kingsland's Mix. Propped up on New North Road, this joint is a mecca of tasty South-East Asian goodness where you can find the staples such as tom yum soup and gyozas as well as roast duck, curries and deelish wok tosses. Also worth noting is their short but sweet bao (read = bun) menu. You'll have the option of roast pork, chichen or tofu for our vege pals out there. This central hot spot is not to be missedlovers of Asian food!

Our teeny little country has a name for itself as being clean and green, and our friends over at The Source want to keep it that way. The Source Bulk Foods are eco-warriors working towards saying goodbye to nasty plastic packaging for good. Swap your bags for jars and your treats for wholefoods, because this Milford-based store has love for both you and the earth. If kombucha on tap and guilt-free homewares are right up your alley, pay this eco-friendly paradise a visit, it’d be rude not to!
Bowl & Arrow | Parnell
After the success of their first store in Orakei, Bowl & Arrow's second home has opened in the beautiful burb of Parnell. Specialising in super healthy, super yummy smoothie bowls which are filled with antioxidants and nutrients. B&A bowls are mostly gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free. Expect a variety of nuts, fruits and veggies. The perfect way to start your day or for a little afternoon pick-me-up.

There are few things that can get us out of bed early on the weekend, but a meal at Dear Jervois is definitely one of them. This charming café in the heart of Herne Bay has been serving up some of Auckland's best (not to mention prettiest) brunch and brekkie for years and shows no signs of stopping, even with a recent-ish change in ownership.

Ain’t No Taco
Serving up delicious—you guessed it—tacos, Ain't No Taco is a welcome addition to Symonds Street. With colourful decor and an ENTIRE WALL dedicated to hot sauce, it is an oasis in the heart of the city. you’ll find the likes of Korean-inspired bulgogi pork, with daikon pickle and slaw, Tequila and lime chicken with coconut yogurt and lettuce and Jamaican jerk tofu and mango salsa. Of course, you can't visit a Mexican joint without trying the guac and chips, and here you are assured that they are every bit as delicous as you were hoping. Wash it all down with some tequila or craft beers. Ain't No Taco, we're loving you!
Oasis Cafe
Half cafe, half smoothie bar, Oasis Cafe may just be Howick's best kept secret—until now that is. From housemade peanut butter, chocolate and salted caramel shakes to s'mores flamed and caramelized to order, those with a sweet tooth have found their safe haven. The extensive menu suits all taste buds however, with carb-loaded breaky bowls featuring at their finest. Our favourite pick? The open toast with roast pear, honey, thyme and a whole lotta peanut butter.

Happy Boy
Happy Boy is making the folk of Royal Oak happy! Brought to you by the same peeps behind Kiss Kiss, Chiniserie and L'Oeuf, step inside and you'll discover something special. Vibrantly colourful, it's serving up delicous bugers, all served in soft, bao-style buns. The cornflake crusted Karage chicken with nori, pickled ginger, white cabbage and Yuzu mayo is a must. Just make sure you leave room for dessert! We can't go past the warm brownie with miso butterscotch, vanilla ice cream and crushed peanuts. Quench your thirst with one of three non-alcoholic slusies or go all out and order the Pina colada.
Duck Duck Goose Eatery
Duck Duck Goose is bringing a whole lot of yum to the industrial area of Rosedale. The North Shore newcomer adds a Southeast Asian twist to cafe fare. Classics such as French toast and omelettes are offered alongside spicy duck curry and a chicken burger served with kimchi salad. Wash down with an Espresso Workshop coffee or something from their extensive latte menu—matcha, turmeric or beetroot, the choice is yours!

Let’s be honest, sometimes we just can’t go past a goode (pun intended), honest pub. We’re talking hearty, wholesome meals, refreshing bevvies and a lively, welcoming atmosphere. What’s not to love about that?!
Once Strangers Cafe
We were all once strangers, but fate... or just pure perseverance (please be my friend?) got us our bestest of friends and soul mates. But you don’t have to be a stranger to this humble cafe in Eden Terrace and say hi to their lovable breakfast options and lunchables, their unique bao buns filled with balsamic thick pork belly or their bulgogi burger for us kimchi lovers. Don’t forget to try their peanut butter and caramel shake and, of course, Kohu Road ice cream. You’ll definitely won’t be a stranger after visiting Once Strangers Cafe!
Jess’ Underground Kitchen Remuera
Remuera foodies delight! Synonymous with seriously good and healthy foods, the amazing deli that is Jess' Underground Kitchen is now on Remuera turf where it's dishing out all the feel-good foods we know and love. It's the perfect place to pop by if you're in need of a healthy, hearty and homely meal or snack with their stellar range of breads, sammies, salads and frozen foods ready for you to grab on the go. There's also a kick-ass range of cheeses and sweet treats (ahem, like Lewis Road Creamery anyone?) just waiting for you to sink your teeth into. If you're a busy bee then you'll be super stoked to know that you can order their dinner of the day online and swing by to grab it on the way home!

For perfect brows and silky smooth skin, look no further than OFF & ON in Britomart. The friendly folk are pros at all things hair removal, offering both waxing and laser services. As for your brows, they’ll shape and colour them to perfection—and they can do your lashes while you’re at it. Neither a beauty spa nor salon OFF & ON puts the funk in funky with their quirky art, black-clad staff and great music. Can’t get to Britomart? Visit ‘em in Newmarket, Takapuna or get amongst microblading at their Quay Street branch.

Mother/daughter design duo Lynda Partridge and Hannah Mirbach have opened HART by Partridge Design. Located in Birkenhead HART is full of beautiful homeware products with everything from bedding to lighting, prints to drapery with some standout pieces sourced from Denmark and Europe. With a gorgeous and cohesive collection, you'll find your interior woes sorted!
Rabbit Cafe
Here's one for all you herbivores! Rabbit Cafe is Aucklands newest vegetarian cafe. Located in Eden Terrace, this quaint little cafe has a mouth watering selection of cabinet treats and a fantasticly green menu to tempt even the most strong headed of meat lovers! French toast, courgette omelettes and quinoa fritters are some of the scrummy dishes that this healthy little cafe has to offer. Lorne Street Larder
Brunching and lunching in the CBD just got a whole lot easier with Lorne Street Larder on the scene! Smack-bang in the middle of the city, this cafe is the ideal spot for those who are on-the-go but still need to recharge and refuel with a tasty meal. Don't miss their French toast—a generous helping served with mascarpone, chocolate soil and drizzled in hazelnut butter. There is also a delicious pie menu. If you're after a sweet (or savoury!) treat, look no further than Table Talk. Owners Michelle Bevan and Darren Jarrett (of Mint Cakery) are serving baked goods in exceptional style. You'll find lovingly crafted sweet treats including brownies, slices and Chelsea buns alongside hearty savoury numbers. Don't leave without nabbing one of their beef cheek pies—they're some of the city's finest. Wash it all down with a perfectly brewed Flight coffee and you'll leave with a spring in your step!

The Halcyon
The Halcyon's pink door will take you to a bright, colourful and spacious paradise. As the little sister of Ponsonby Road Bistro, Halcyon is good for either late breakfast (yep, brunch), lunch, or dinner—opening its doors from 11am till late. On the menu, you'll find a bit of everything with five mouth-watering sections (entrees, salads, grill, comforts and sides) with an extensive wine list to boot. A back-room fire makes it even more convincing, especially during cold winter time.
Brotherhood Urban Stylists
One of Aucklands best barbers is Brotherhood Urban Stylist. Based in Takapuna, this barber shop strives to make you feel welcome and part of a “brotherhood” of sharing creativity. Specialising in both scissors and clippers, this barbershop has a service to suit every man. From a “classic brother” full-style cut with a hot towel finish, a “silver brother” colour to blend those pesky greys for a more natural look and an “executive brother” which includes a full scalp massage and a bevvy of your choice into the service. All while broadcasting the latest sports on the box…. Naturally. This barbershop is for sure a top contender on the list.
Simon & Lee
Parnell's food scene is getting only better and better—and it's thanks to the likes of Simon & Lee. Tucked away off the main drag, the menu features European cuisine with a dash of Korean. Dig into the likes of eggs bene with miso truffle béchemal and kimchi, bibimbap and agedashi tofu—it's perfectly crispy on the outside and silky on the inside!
Barulho
As if Parnell isn't already blessed with the best, Barulho has come to join the list. Portugese for 'noise', let them entertain you with their dishes and cocktails. This Portugese-Italian inspired eatery changes their menu weekly, inviting your curious appetite to check them out frequently. A cabinet full of traditional pastries and savouries on hand, Baruhlo also caters to your snacking needs with tapas and takeaway options. Coffee or cocktails, it's your pick—just be sure to make some friendly noise!
Giraffe
There’s a new waterfront eatery that’s got everyone talking, backed by the MasterChef himself—Simon Gault. Giraffe, affectionately named by Simon’s three-year-old, mixes fine dining with a more relaxed vibe. And you better believe the menu has been carefully put together to suit every palate. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, this restaurant is perfect for an intimate date, a work function and everything in between.
Goodness Gracious
Goodness Gracious me, they've done it again and opened their second cafe in Parnell after the success of their Eden Terrace eatery. This hot spot is notorious for its bagels, which are both perfectly doughy, yet provide a satisfying crunch. We like to imagine the Goodness Gracious bagels are straight out of New York—‘The Kranksy’ could have fooled us. They've even got tummy friendly, gluten free options! A little bit of New York style goes a long way.
Mr Zhou’s Dumplings, Mt Eden
Dumplings and Aucklanders go hand in hand—it's the stuff of true love! And cult-favourite Mr Zhou's has opened its doors in Mt Eden, leading to a collective sigh of relief. Here, opt for the pork and chives dumplings or make a beeline for the beef and coriander—yum. There's also an array of other dishes to choose from, including sizzling pork with lashings of sweet and sour sauce, hand-pulled noodles and a tofu and cucumber salad. Mr Zhou's is a must-visit for all your dumpling cravings.
Sticky Fingers Cafe
Tucked away in the industrial area of Rosedale, Sticky Fingers Cafe is an unexpected—but welcome—gem. Serving a mouth-watering all-day menu alongside cabinet goodies and an array of bevvies, it’s the ultimate breakfast (or lunch!) pozzy.
THE CUT
Mall hair salons are changing for the better thanks to THE CUT in Sylvia Park. As the brainchild of Auckland-renown hairdressers Hamilton Brooks and Frana Evans, THE CUT is drop-in studio slash blow-dry bar like no other. It’s a happy-medium between a high-end boutique salon and drop-in mall salon, catering to your “I-need-to-get-my-hair-did-but-I-suck-at-making-appointments” dilemma. The services menu includes haircuts, fringe trims, hair treatment and a luxurious wash and blow-dry.
Burger Lab
We’ve got you and your craving for some juicy burgers covered with Burger Lab on Jervois Road. Their colossal beef burger has got everything we want: New Zealand grass fed, juicy beef patty, aged cheddar and, of course, BACON! They’ve got heaps to offer, from their lamb burger with slow-cooked Moroccan spiced lamb shoulder (that was definitely a mouth full) on Turkish bun to their hickory smoke BBQ baby back pork ribs paired with Japanese Coleslaw. It’s all just yum! Don’t delay it any longer and head over to Burger Lab to get those cravings sussed.
The Garden Shed
Located in the heart of Mt Eden Village, The Garden Shed is a restaurant with all the comforts. Covered in sprawling ivy and adorned with overflowing flower baskets, The Garden Shed is—hands down—one of the most beautiful restaurants in Auckland. The theme continues inside with garden tools hanging from walls, utensils presented in terracotta pots and plants in every direction.
Goode Brothers, NorthWest
If you’re after a goode time (pun absolutely intended), look no further than Goode Brothers. Conveniently located in NorthWest Shopping Centre, take a well-deserved break from shopping and refuel at the friendly gastropub. The menu boasts a mouth-watering selection of “Kiwitalian” dishes with extensive pizza and pasta menus as well as pub faves such as burgers, steak and—of course—fish and chips. Sit back, relax and wash down with a refreshing bevvy—too goode!
La Fourchette

Your newest stop on the daily commute, these guys have got you covered serving top-notch brews, kombucha and even Taiwanese tea. This cute little cafe has a large, shared table to perch and enjoy your drink. Whether you're doing some shopping in this hip area or just passing by, make sure you stop by Daily Daily for your caffeine fix.

Psst! Sandringham's much-loved chai lounge has set up shop in a second location. Nestled behind K Road's Satya restaurant, you'll stumble upon their secret new chai lounge. The intimate space specialise in beer, cocktails, hookah, Indian street food and—of course—chai. And trust us when we say: this lounge is truly magical.
Hero Sandwich House
Eden Terrace has a new hero in the form of a brand new sandwich house. Hero Sandwich House makes those lackluster sandwiches you pack for yourself a thing of the past. Showcasing the works of local artists, you'll find a bright and sleek fit-out that will make you feel at home. With cheeky names, there's a sandwich for everyone. Opt for the Walters, filled with tuna, sweet pickle relish and cos lettuce or try the Ralph—with chicken, pickled ginger, cucumber, red cabbage and jalapeño, he'll definitely put a spring in your step. To wash it down, there's Supreme coffee on hand, as well as Greenleaf Organics juices. Hero Sandwich House really is our hero!

There’s more to Botany Town Centre than shopping, y’know? Head to Goode Brothers for a good, honest feed—paired with a refreshing bevvy (or two). Specialising in “Kiwitalian” fare, you’ll find the likes of pizza, pasta, burgers, parmigiana and a not-to-be-missed beef cheek. We can’t go past the create-your-own pasta menu—fettuccine, linguine, gnocchi…the power is yours! Goode Brothers keep the goode times rolling live music, quiz nights and pasta classes.

Situated on Jervois Road is newcomer cafe, Beatrix. This cute-as-a-button eatery is remnicent of Beatrix Potter, with a calming blue interior and delicious food for breakfast and lunch. Brought to you by Marietta van Steensel, Beatrix is a brilliant mix of Dutch and French with the likes of croissants, Dutch honey cake, fresh fruit and free-range poached eggs on the menu. If you have a sweet tooth, you can’t go past their fluffy pancake laid in a pool of blueberry compote, maple, vanilla mascarpone and candied orange zest.

Remember what it was like to be a child? The world was filled with endless possibilities and life was nothing but fun and games.
