It’s Valentine’s Day, you and your partner are looking for a lil element of surprise on your usual picnic date. Well, here is the answer to your picnic prayers: the New Farm Mystery Picnic Date. For just $150, this all-inclusive adventure for two promises a delectable spread of platter-style goodies from local artisans. But here's the twist: you embark on a gourmet scavenger hunt to collect your special picnic feast. Solve clues, tantalise your taste buds, and unveil a secret picnic spot that's Instagram-worthy. Cheese, Chocolate And Wine 

No need to decide between cheese, chocolate and wine for your romantic plans—City Winery is dishing up them all over one incredible night. Their ultimate romance package on 14 February kicks off with three cheese from Woombye Cheese paired with three City Winery wines, followed by chocolates from local artisan maker 31 Degrees and three fortified and dessert wines. Who needs entrees or mains when you can go straight to the cheese and dessert course? Best of all, there’s multiple venues to get tickets for, with the fun going down at City Winery Edward Street, and Ardo’s Wine in Newstead, Graceville and Hawthorne.

This Valentine’s Day, GOMA's ‘Valentine’s Day Ever After’ promises a romantic and magical evening. Dive into creative workshops, strike a pose in photo booths, enjoy bars, dining, and more—all within the enchanting 'Fairy Tales' exhibition. Take it up a notch by upgrading your event ticket for a three-course dinner at GOMA’s pop-up dining experience, Farm-to-Table. Spend a day surrounded by fairy tales, where your love story can become as dreamy as it gets.

Mary Mae’s Riverside Picnics

No romantic date is more traditional than a good ol’ picnic. But you know what’s better? A picnic you don’t have to plan. Mary Mae has officially got you covered with their pre-packed charcuterie board, complete with a basket, blanket, crockery and cutlery, so you can set up and enjoy your picnic in the great outdoors of New Farm Park. To ignite the love affair even further, choose to add a bottle of wine to your order. Just be organised, because they need 48 hours notice to book.

Soak & Sound 

Love is in the water at Soak this Valentines Day. The West End spot is turning up the romance with live music, candles and romantic décor taking over their luxe rooftop bathhouse just for the occasion. Treat yourself to a long hot sunset soak, a sauna sessions and maybe even a massage between 5pm-8pm on Wednesday 14 February to take advantage of the romantic setting.

A Jurassic World Valentine’s Day 

Channel Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler this Valentine’s Day, with extended hours at the Queensland Museum’s Jurassic World by Brickman exhibition for the occasion. With 5pm sessions and a pop-up bar available, you can impress your date with your mediocre palaeontological knowledge or LEGO-building skills, and maybe hop over to Fish Lane for dinner afterwards.

Valentine’s Day Sweet Treats

Forget flowers, we’re all about the sweet treats this year, and Brisbane has them in spades. Paddington’s Cakes & Sh!t has your NSFW desserts covered in the form of curse cookies, heart cakes and giant cookie hearts, which you can personalise with your own message, or you can stay safe with red velvet crack cookies and cake truffles. In the CBD, Batch Cookie Bar is doing a Valentine’s Day pop-up boutique from 7-14 February where you can customise your own giant heart cookies, while Hamilton’s Rise Bakery is serving up boxes of strawberry macarons, passion fruit eclairs and love heart millefeuilles which you can even pair with a bottle of bubbles. 

But wait, we’re not done—at Bulimba’s Darvella Patisserie  you can pre-order their Valentine’s Day entremet, a white chocolate and hazelnut mousse cake filled with raspberry pearls, while Nodo, not to be outdone, has come up with four different Valentine’s Day donuts. Even Smash-A-Cake is getting in on the action with teddy bear and heart-shaped chocolate smash cakes—let’s hope that’s the only heart being broken this year. If you want to melt their heart instead, head for La Macelleria, who are doing heart shaped gelato pops with a chocolate centre at all their Brisbane stores.
