Blend Cafe & Pizza Bar

Grab your mates for a night of wood-fired pizzas in a lively and kitsch setting at Blend Cafe & Pizza Bar in Melville. What used to be a picture-framing shop is now a food haven, packed with miss-matched furniture and a massive collection of bric-a-brac – with retro lamps, bowling pins, framed vintage pictures and other goodies lining the walls, half the fun of visiting is taking in the decor. Open all week long, Blend Cafe & Pizza Bar is a cafe by day, serving great coffee alongside breakfast (until 2pm!) and lunch, and pizza bar by night, with all of your favourite toppings. A range of other menu options are also on offer, including hearty pastas, seafood, rump steaks and pork belly.

Swallow Bar

A vibrant, tiny space right opposite Mayland’s train station on Whatley Crescent, Perth bar Swallow is a cute and quaint local. Offering a carefully curated selection of wine, beer and cocktails, and delicious food, try score a booth or a table in the courtyard and settle in for a long night sipping delicious drinks and tasting local-produced based eats (the french onion and gruyere croquettes and fennel salami with house smoked almonds are our picks!). With live music on Thursday and Sunday evenings and a new brunch offering on the weekends, Swallow Bar may just become your new local but be warned; this place is always packed, with very little standing room.

Sherbet Cafe & Bake Shop

Perth Cafe Sherbet Cafe & Bake Shop is a feast for the senses, from the moment you walk in until the moment you finish the last crumbs of their incredibly moorish cakes. The sweet vintage décor features old wooden cabinets, a beautiful pastel retro fridge, and sweet baked goods as far as the eye can see. Your toughest choice will be whether to go with a giant slice of almond praline cake, a delightful rocky road cupcake, a chocolate raspberry brownie, or one of the other many treats on offer. One thing is for sure, whatever your choice, you won’t regret it because everything served here (including the small selection of savouries) is absolutely delicious.

Tucked down the Tip Top Arcade off Oxford Street in Leederville, their freshly made drinks range from fruit and veggie smoothies, to a huge range of juices. If it takes more than a smoothie to fill you up then you’re in luck, because The Markey Juicery also offers delicious Holy Bagel Company bagels, with toppings ranging from blueberries to roast beef, as well as a range of wraps, frittatas, salads and mouth-watering raw treats. The modern interior, cute outdoor tables, quality service and good prices have made Ria a long-time favourite for locals. Perth is going crazy for Gelato at the moment and Whisk Creamery is one of the reasons why. This place really takes #foodporn to a new (dangerous) level. Picture this: a cronut, sandwiched with salted caramel gelato, homemade salted caramel sauce and topped with whipped cream. If that hasn't got you salivating then really, what will. The crew at Whisk Creamery are all about using quality produce and their soft soft-serve gelatos and frozen yoghurts are made with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. That's practically healthy in our book!

Put your fancy pants on for this one, Listers, Perth Restaurant Clarkes of Northbeach is definitely one for the splurge category. Chef and owner, Stephen Clarke has won numerous culinary awards and it's no surprise - the food is crazy good and the romantic and cosy vibe of the restaurant is top notch. Our top tip: put the Degustation Menu on your bucket list.

Perth Restaurant Six Senses is a modern and intimate Thai restaurant located in the heart of Subi. The crew here describe their food as "real delicious food with a touch of creativity" and we couldn't agree more. Perfect for a date night, don't leave without trying Six Senses signature dish, the Massamun lamb shank - it's amazing! Pair it with a glass of red (this place is BYO) and you'll be in flavour heaven.

Described as a "wine bar meets bistro", Lamont's Wine Store is all about seriously good wine complemented by superb food. Lamont's offers the vast majority of their delicious, seasonal dishes in either a tapas or main size so whether you're after a few nibblies to wash your wine down with or the full kit and caboodle, there's something for you. This intricate art and knowledge of the Japanese culture can clearly be seen in the contemporary offering at Northbridge restaurant, Bonsai. Patrons are seen as part of the Bonsai family as each guest is treated to a beautiful and authentic Japanese experience. They offer a range of share plates and a vast sushi selection with each dish being served as soon as it has been freshly prepared by the chef. Bonsai is the perfect venue for a group catch up but just remember they're only open for dinner Wednesday to Sunday! Otanoshimi kudasai!

The crew from Rockpool Burger Bar in Perth know that meat quality is everything when it comes to the perfect burger. Spiked milkshakes and some banging fries and sauce combos feature on the diner menu, while next door you can battle your friends in the retro arcade games room. Once you’re all hyped up you can head over to the D-floor and shake your booty to some live music. When you need a breather you can knock back a few of Jack Rabbit Slim's signature flavoured tequila shots and kick back on a couch upstairs.

True to its name, Perth restaurant The Heritage makes the most of its roots. Step through the grand 1920’s sandstone arches and you’ll find one of Perth CBD’s most refined dining destinations. Housed inside the beautifully restored Royal Insurance Building, The Heritage has been a shining gem in the city for over a decade. With its award-winning wine bar, moody cocktail den Bobeche, specialist wine store and rooftop dining space with city views, it’s easy to see why. The Conservatory Rooftop Bar

When you want a cocktail badly, the narrow staircase to The Conservatory Rooftop Bar, feels akin to climbing Jacob’s Ladder – but the glute workout is well worth it. Once you reach the top, you are met with a slick neon-illuminated bar fit out and a killer view of Perth city. It’s a damn fine place to enjoy a Summer Fling (one of their cocktails - and double entendre).

In its short life, American college themed Perth sports bar Varsity has already become a student hot spot. All about good food and good times in a relaxed environment, Varsity Bar is located within the Broadway Fair Shopping Centre and just a short walk from The University of WA. Varsity Bar dishes out American beers and eats including cheeseburgers, chilli cheese fries and hot wings, while sports lovers can get their fill with American sports on TV every day of the week. This popular lunch spot in Cloisters Arcade has a loyal following who queue up each day to get their mits on the likes of Chicken Veloute soup, served in a sourdough bread bowl or with a stick of perfectly toasted ham and cheese brioche. The perfect place to get the meat sweats on, Ribs & Burgers focuses on its strengths by serving up what it does best – ribs and burgers! Every element of their seemingly simple fare is done with love; from the burger bun, made out of organic flour and toasted to a perfect golden brown, to the 8 hour slow cooked ribs and grass fed beef patties. Show this fine meat fare the respect it deserves by enjoying it with a side of onion rings.

This Perth cafe looks after the cholesterol of the overworked St Georges Terrace employees with its healthy offerings; think “superfood” salads, gluten-free quiches and Soy Matcha Lattes. It may take a few months to get a booking at Marumo in Nedlands, but be patient and you'll be treated to some of the best Japanese in Perth. Marumo only offers Omakase on their menu - a 7-course dining experience (which can take up to 3 hours) selected by Chef Mo. The creative and innovative dishes are selected on a seasonal basis - think the most delicious squid, sashimi, gyoza, and sushi you've ever had the pleasure of getting your chops around. At $60 per head, Marumo is also ridiculously good value. Get in quick, this little gem is getting more popular by the day.

Elixir Coffee Specialists

A small batch coffee roaster tucked behind Chelsea Pizza in Nedlands, Elixir Coffee Specialists are serious about good coffee. All the coffee here is made from in-house roasted beans and great care is made to perfect the perfect brew. The minimalist decor might give off an industrial, indie vibe but there's no pretentious coffee snobbery here - just a bunch of guys who live and breathe coffee. The little kitchen also dishes out some cracking brekky and lunch options.

Noodle Forum

It’s hard to walk by Noodle Forum in Perth’s CBD, not just because of the delicious scent of fresh noodles wafting from the interior, but because there is a Japanese man in the window who appears to be playing see-saw on a large piece of bamboo. It’s giggle-inducing to watch but the end result is zhu sheng mian - bamboo pole noodles, which melt in your mouth. It’s worth patiently lining up for these labour-intensive creations from Chef Enrich Wong.

From the peeps behind Mo Espresso, comes this little ripper of a coffee shop. Max + Sons Perth has the formula down to please the spoilt-for-choice 140 crowd; Top Dup doughnuts, a mean selection of sammies, a hip and cheerful fit-out and, of course, Five Senses Coffee filtering through their countertop Synesso.

Boubar is a relaxed, rustic and cool neighbourhood Perth cafe and bar on trendy Hampden Road in Nedlands. The urban décor and graffiti style art (it's Stormie Mills) on the exposed brick walls is the perfect setting to settle in with one of their exceptional brews. Pop in for a coffee or stay for a meal, the crew at Boubar have got the goods to make your day.
