Summer is all about settling in by the water and taking up the challenge of eating your weight in food. That’s why we’re really digging the Mexican Fiesta Pop-Up at Portside complete with casual flair did we mention delicious food? Yep, that’s right, get your fix of small bites like quesadillas oozing with mushroom, serrano chilli and pepita aioli and follow it up with a margarita deconstructed cheesecake. Margarita. FLICKERFEST SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
Flickerfest has been around for yonks, we tell you, and they’re back in 2018 with some mighty fine international and national short films. If you fancy yourself a bit of a film fanatic, an unlimited season pass is the way to go, but for the rest of us, a ticket will only set you back $20 (a bargain if ever we saw one). LEURA SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL
Calm down everyone, Leura is legit only a 1.5-hour drive from Sydney city, acting as the perfect lil’ getaway or road trip you’ve been hoping for this January. Fare thee well to the bustle of Sydney city and catch Shakespeare’s Measure For Measure and Goldoni’s The Servant of Two Masters at the outdoor festival this January.

PARKES ELVIS FESTIVAL
Parkes isn’t close but it isn’t too far either, think 365km from Sydney, rural AF and bang on in the centre of NSW. Thank goodness road trips exist because the Parkes Elvis Festival will have you packing your car with pillows and snacks and making the trip out to Parkes, all for the love of Elvis. With five whole days of entertainment, food, live music and drinks, the Elvis Festival is bound to be a goodie, so get your tix here.

Thursday 11 January
CIRCUS CITY IN PARRAMATTA
Thanks to (you guessed it) Sydney Festival, Parramatta is scoring its very own circus this January and excuse us while our inner child loses their damn mind. Friday 12 January
Head to the Tramsheds this weekend for the next installment of Aperitivo Hour. This time, it’s a collaboration between in-house legends Butcher and the Farmer, and Dust (just quietly one of Sydney’s best bakeries) and it’ll be a big fat flavour bomb for those taste buds of yours. Spear The Beer
Fridays just got a lot more interesting thanks to The Oaks Hotel and it’s all because they’re bringing back the ancient tradition of spearing the Beer. Basically, this is where they take to a beer barrel with a stone hammer and spike to break the seal for some satisfying and fresh AF beer. Oh and did we mention the beer is free? Yeah, we’re talking about schooners of XXXX Bitter for zero dollarydoos. Yep.

Tiki Pontoon Party
Have you been looking for an excuse to party on a pontoon on Sydney Harbour? Well, we just found one bloody good one. Coca Cola is celebrating summer in typical Sydney style with a Tiki-style party happening on a pontoon that’s sitting right next to Rose Bay Wharf (you'll need to catch a short boat ride over to the party). The floating hut is only hanging around for two days so you’ll want to get in quickly for fun in the sun water activities and music courtesy of DJ Mashd N Kutcher. Stay hydrated kids and pop open one of those refreshing bevvies including the new Coca-Cola Raspberry and water. See you on the pontoon.

Free Live Entertainment Hub at Gateway’s Summer Sessions
Each weekend in January you can expect to be dazzled by musicians, acrobats, performers and jumbo games at Gateway’s Summer Sessions. Gateway has locked down talent like professional street artist, Hendrick, and ‘Kids of Leo,’ the World’s youngest sibling pop group from Australia’s Got Talent. Bring the kids, bring the adults, and most importantly, head here for more details.

Cockatoo Island Campfire Sessions
What’s better than a Saturday arvo involving your crew, a couple of cheeky bevs around the campfire and some of Sydney’s best acoustic artists crooning in the background? TBH not much, unless said arvo involves an island in the harbour, obvs. Cockatoo Island is dishing up the chilled, summer goods this month.
