We’re #blessed to live here on the Coast AKA paradise. Our foodie scene is positively bursting with epic new haunts opening on the reg. But because we’re spoilt for choice, sometimes we need a little refresher on the newbies that are kicking total goals in the restaurant world. Here are some of our absolute faves of 2018.

Restaurant Labart

Burleigh

If it sounds like we’re super crushing on this Burleigh restaurant, it’s because it deserves it. Head chef and owner Alex Munoz Labart and his wife Karla have created a space that is feels uber swanky but not the least bit pretentious. Restaurant Labart is serving up top-notch modern Australian food, think share plates of veal tartare with sun-dried tomato and tarragon, local spanner crab and leeks in a roasted crab sauce and apple ice cream with rhubarb to finish. Their skilled bartender Nick also offers up some truly delightful tipples. Hello Saturday night dinners your gang or a fancy lunch with the parents.

Mr Hizolas

Burleigh

Another new addition to the ever-expanding Burleigh foodie scene is Mr Hizola’s. The modern Cantonese eatery is from local entrepreneur Scott Imlach of The Hideaway, Bine and The Nightjar. The space, which is designed to feel like you’ve eating in a Chinese garden, is positively packed on a weekend with punters gobbling up their delish dim sum. And trust us, you have to try the sizzling typhoon shelter Mooloolaba prawns and the sizzling wagyu steak serving on fo zek stone—it’s literally cooked at your table to melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Cocktail-wise grab a Quat You Talking About…you can thank us later.

The Milkman’s Daughter

It’s not just dinner spots that have stolen our heart–and our waistlines—in recent months, we’re positively obsessed with Morgan Walsh’s latest offering The Milkman’s Daughter. After finding success with Bonita Bonita (she’s since sold it), Poke Poke and FuFu, Morgan and her partner Mary Steele are serving up truly mouth-watering vegetarian (and vegan) delights out of their Mermaid Beach cafe, including corn fritters with coconut chutney the prettiest berry porridge we ever did see. And with lush greenery and white concrete alcoves, this place is pure Instagram gold.
