The Royal

The Rosemount Hotel

Iconic Perth pub, The Rosemount Hotel is a live music venue that’s had a facelift, broadening its appeal for quality pub dinners and lazy Sunday sessions. Levi’s Doughnuts

Perth doughnut joint, Levi’s, offer delicious handmade European style doughnuts served up warm and fresh from stall Y7 at the Fremantle markets on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. These doughnuts will remind you of your childhood, and are the perfect pick-me-up after a busy day exploring Freo. The delicious treats are available in traditional style, or filled with either blackberry jam or real dark chocolate, and coated in cinnamon sugar. They're just begging to be devoured.

Caboose

Craft beer bar, Caboose, is adding a whole lot of yeasty goodness to Beaufort Street in Mount Lawley. They're pouring all sorts of craft beer with 12 taps rotating different beers every few days. The space has serious man cave vibes—think dark, unpretentious and comfortable—and there's a beer garden and alfresco area if you’d prefer some sunshine. If you need some bites to go with your beer the crew here are dishing out toasties, fried chicken, meats and cheese, and they’re also doing some killer take away toastie and squealers (that's a one litre growler FYI) specials so you can get some nosh and your fave craft beer to go. Winning.

A long-time Applecross favourite, Gucce Fine Italian Cuisine is a stylish little haunt serving up home-made pasta, authentic wood-fired pizzas and Mediterranean-style eats (we recommend the gnocchi and the barramundi). The generous servings will leave you feeling warm, fuzzy and full of Italian amore.

A true diamond in the rough, this adorable little Applecross cafe dishes out excellent coffee, homemade cakes and healthy brekky and lunch eats every day of the week. The folk behind this cafe pride themselves on making everything from scratch and if the quality of food is anything to go by, we reckon they're on to something.

Toscanini’s

Toscanini’s Cafe in Applecross dishes out some of the best sandwiches and rolls south of the river, in our opinion. With plenty of old favourites—like their full-to-the-brim mixed meat roll—it's the perfect place to pop in for a takeaway lunch. Get in quick though—the lunchtime rush is intense!

The Cove Indian Restaurant

Scrumptious Indian food served within an atmospheric colonial style house, Attadale restaurant, The Cove, has amassed many happy regulars. Choose from the menu or gorge at the weekend buffet (Friday to Sunday), but whatever you do be sure you try the Saag Lamb Curry (lamb cooked with spinach and spices in a thick curry sauce), it’s pretty much the best thing on the menu.

Freo Indian restaurant Copper Chimney hits all the marks for date night; delicious food, great service and cool surroundings. Royal India is a gem of a Indian joint in West Perth, with delicious eats, attentive service, slick wine list and a cool vibin’ atmosphere to top it all off. Try their specialty goat curry or the goan fish curry. If it’s lunch you’re after, Royal India have you sorted with their Thali plates or special lunch menu, which includes an entrée, main and glass of wine.

Solo Pizza

Tradish South Perth pizza joint, Solo, is the kind of place you’d expect to find in Italy, with redbrick walls, wooden boards and cozy lighting. The pizzas churned out at this South Perth restaurant are arguably some of Perth’s best and there are plenty to choose from, even a Nutella dessert pizza (nom nom nom). If you’re feeling stinge, head down to Solo on a Tuesday night for their pizza specials! Solo Pizza are cash only, but they make up for it with BYO.

The Little Pantry

With a short but super solid menu, The Little Pantry in Subiaco takes inspiration from cuisines all over the world when plating up their own brand of magic. Whether it's the Dal Makhani Bowl topped with poached eggs or the Crispy Fried Artichoke Hearts you're sure to be blown away. Sweet tooths definitely want to order their French toast. Made with challah bread, it's topped with a glazed banana, hazelnut praline and bacon ice cream.

C Lo Presti & Son in East Fremantle is THE place to go when you need to make an impressive antipasto board. With more olives than you can poke a stick at and all of the hard-to-find cheeses that you'll never stumble across in your regular old supermarket, you'll be the most popular person around when you bring these out to the party! Don't leave without one of their famous conti rolls—they are delicious!

Winner of five Gold Plate awards over the past six years, Punjab Indian Restaurant in Innaloo is a must try for tasty Indian in fun Bollywood style surrounds. With a fully stocked bar and secret spices added to every dish (gosh-darn we wish we had the recipe) a visit to Punjab Indian Restaurant is always fun and delicious.

Old Lira

High on our list of favourite pizza spots in Perth, Bassendean pizza joint Old Lira is the place to go for your next pizza party. With freshly made sourdough pizza bases and all of the salamis (including our fave, nduja sausage), you’re in for a real treat. Old Lira serve some pizzas fresche style (room temperature), as well as the regular calde style (hot), and they’ve got Gusto Gelato on hand too. Top menu picks: number 2 and 3.

NeNe Chicken

NeNe means “Yes! Yes!” in Korean and that’s exactly what we say to NeNe Chicken in Victoria Park. Choose from the original, spicy, freaking hot, garlic, bulgogi, snowing vegetable, oriental green onion or lemon fried chicken varieties, all served with coleslaw and radish, or go half and half for $2 extra! If you’re wanting to max-out on Korean flavour flaves, NeNe Chicken also whip up a mean looking kimchi chicken burger. Yes! Yes!

Kagura Sushi House

For some of the best sushi in Perth jump on the train to Kagura Sushi House in Como. Tucked into an unassuming spot on the outskirts of a shopping complex, Kagura’s sushi is fresh, authentic, delicately put together and above all delicious. For bento fans, step outside your normal chicken teriyaki safety blanket and opt for Kagura’s more unusual options like grilled eel and red emperor katsu, both served with dumplings, spring rolls, miso soup and a sesame-dressed seaweed salad.

Low Key Chow House’s little sister, Mount Lawley Restaurant Dainty Dowager is big on delish food and epic cocktails. With a focus on Chinese barbeque, make sure you try the char siu pork and a roast duck bao or two. The Ellington Jazz Club

The Ellington Jazz Club features the cream of the crop of Australian jazz talent in a relaxed setting. You can either drop in for a quick drink after work or stay and make a night of it...they are open until 3am on Friday and Saturday night! Tables can be booked online or there are stools available to perch on in the bar area. The Ellington have your hunger sorted too, with share plates and pizza available. Our pick would definitely have to be the deconsructed nachos...enjoy!

Budburst Small Bar

Housed in a 100-year-old cottage, Budburst Small Bar may be the newish kid on the bar scene but the praise is already coming thick and fast. With renowned French chef Gwenael Lesle at the helm, the kitchen is pumping out delicious French fare, complemented by an extensive and unique wine list. A welcome addition to the neighbourhood bar scene. Merci beaucoup!

The Jazz Cellar

There's hidden gems and then there's ACTUAL hidden gems. One of Perth's best kept secrets, the entrance is via an old red telephone box, down a flight of stairs into a room that fits 100 people at a pinch. A gorgeously cosy and beautiful live music haunt, the venue has been throwing their doors open every Friday night to loyal fans for over 16 years; the Corner House Jazz Band never tiring of getting people up and dancing.

It probably doesn't get more cosy than drinking red wine on a wintery night at The Cabin in Mount Hawthorn. The wooden interior, low lighting and a central fireplace make this small bar the perfect place to while away an afternoon or evening. Enjoy some charcuterie or a few of the hearty share plates, washed down with a glass (or bottle) of wine from the hand selected menu. Who needs a snow trip when you can come to The Cabin?

You may have seen Gusto Food's famous homemade crumpets with berry compote and peanut gravel clogging up your Instagram feed of late. Let it be known that this dish is every bit as tasty as it looks. Let it also be known that the servings at this much-loved South Perth cafe are generous so best wear loose pants. You can't make bookings on the weekend so get there early or be prepared to join the queue. This place is one of the most popular in Perth.

Architects and Heroes

Coffee geeks rejoice: Perth cafe Architects and Heroes is here to save the day. Boasting their own high-end espresso machine, alternative cold-brew bar, syphon, cold drip and steam punk, the crew here are next-level coffee aficionados and owner Ron Ngo will happily explain their high-tech filter methods to those willing to learn. Using Code Black Coffee beans, the coffee is, as you would expect, exceptionally good and is matched by a unique all day food menu that is anything but your usual granola/avo toast fare! Lets hope this little gem's coffee superpowers continue saving locals from caffeine deprivation for years to come!

One of the most instagrammed cafes in Perth for their beautiful big brekkies, Tropico is all about enjoying good food with friends in a stylish and relaxing environment. Just a stone’s throw from the coast, drop in for a super smooth Will & Co coffee or pull up a pew and while away the day. It's that sorta place. Open every day for breakfast and lunch, Perth cafe Tropico also offers dinner from Wednesday to Sunday. Don't miss out on the soft shell crab sliders and pork belly tacos. Nom nom!

Little Sisto

Those not in the know may drive past this unassuming little cafe without a second glance but Doubleview locals know better. Nestled amongst a little strip of shops on Sackville Terrace, Little Sisto is cosy, friendly and most importantly, the Micrology Coffee is really, really, really good (and they start serving it early!) The brekky and lunch menu is simple but spot on with the bacon and egg toastie (the lip-smackingly tasty star of the menu). Heads up: Text in your coffee order in the morning or else you may be waiting a while—this place is popular for a reason!

Lot 20 is a little Perth bar with a big food focus. The friendly staff will chew your ear off about the nosh, and it's well worth listening up, because they're doing the gastro-pub thing very well.

Tucked in next to The Alex Hotel, fine dining restaurant, Shadow Wine Bar in Northbridge offers classic Euro dining and a moreish wine list. Pop in for a cheeky vino or make a night of it; Shadow Wine Bar has a stunning full food menu and a bar menu that's the ideal accompaniment to your grape of choice, dripping with charcuterie, cheese, and other plonk-friendly favourites. They are also dishing up brunch on the weekends between the very civilised hours of 8am and 2pm so you can get your Bloody Mary on by midday.

Sprolo

Loved by locals for their super smooth coffee (they're brewing Blacklist Coffee Roasters), Sprolo is a little South Perth cafe with a big heart. The 'Traditional Singaporean' breakfast - comprising of half boiled eggs, sourdough toast and kaya (coconut and egg jam) is definitely one of the more interesting Perth brekkies we've tried. The cafe's name is a mash-up of ‘Spro’ (baristas term for espresso) and ‘yolo’. Get your booty down there stat!

Sixteen Ounces might just become your new home away from home with their dreamy coffee, epic food and warm 'n' cosy atmosphere. The menu boasts plenty of hearty fare - ‘The Farmhouse Brekky’ complete with Elmar's chipolatas will ensure you don't leave hungry. We highly recommend.

Mr Herbert’s opened in front of Lisa Burns Pilates studio in Doubleview and it’s just what the locals have been wanting. They take their coffee seriously and serve only the very best, along with raw treats, fresh juices and pre-made snacks. Wassup Dog | East Perth

We have always loved Wassup Dog so we were pretty ecstatic when they opened a permanent shop in East Perth. But don't worry, they are still rolling around in their food truck at various night markets in Perth. With organic beef, free range chicken and a vegetarian option (yep, vegetarian hotdogs, you read that right!) and some freakin' awesome homemade garlic mayo, it's no wonder we dream about these dawgs all week long.

With beautiful views over the Swan River and Elizabeth Quay, The Reveley is perfect for all occasions. Encompassing a cafe, dining room and rooftop bar, the light-filled interior features gold accents, concrete, wood panelling and huge windows; all the good stuff.

Puck Espresso

The bright orange coffee machine at Bicton's Puck Espresso will be enough to keep you coming back for more! The industrial yet colourful setting is incredible to look at, but just wait until you try their coffee. Pair a smooth and creamy long mac with one of their sweet muffins for an epic start to your day. Be sure you check out their food cabinet and pick a little treat up for lunch too. Your welcome.

Ramen fans know to head to Perth Japanese eatery Dosukoi at the Fremantle markets for bowls of liquid gold. It's gained quite the cult following among the Japanese food gurus about town over the years and one slurp of their prawn gyoza ramen will tell you why. Don't be surprised if you end up waiting a while, just take solace in the fact they've just blessed Freo's ramen addicts with a new shop in the FOMO precinct called Komatsu.

Connections Nightclub

While some of you might remember Connections Nightclub as the dark and dingy gay club of your youth, those in the know are heading there pretty regularly to play a bit of Bingay and watch a drag show or two. If you feel like a Friday night boogie then this is the place to go, and when you're in need of a breather the courtyard is a great place for a bit of fresh air and quiet time. Connections is also becoming well-known for hosting some of the best international DJs hitting Perth, so if thats your jam make sure you keep an eye on their website and Facebook page to see what's coming up.

Blackbird

Tucked away next to Claisebrook Lake, Blackbird in East Perth dish out delicious European inspired dishes featuring only the best fresh, local and seasonal produce. The menu will surely impress, with lots of hearty goodies like squid ink spaghetti with prawns and scallops, creamy polenta with mushroom, lemon confit and parmesan crisps and black angus fillet with Brussels sprouts, baby carrots and potato au jus. Blackbird also offer a long table lunch option starting at $55 a head—a good one to keep in mind the next time your birthday rolls around!

Stampede Gelato

With crazy flavours like pork crackle with apple sauce and red bean basil, Stampede Gelato have attracted quite a fan base in Perth. You can catch them at The Mantle in Fremantle Thursday to Saturday and on King William Street in Bayswater Thursday to Sunday, but opening times are frequently changing so be sure to check their Facebook page. Stampede Gelato’s other flavours include peanut butter and jam, salted coke and Matcha Tim Tam, but they're always coming up with something new!

Theo & Co. | Leederville

Perth’s pizza king, Theo Kalogeracos, is back in business in Leederville with his new business venture, Theo & Co. You can expect the same quality of pizzas as the original Little Caesars Pizzeria and a whole lot of amazing new creations. We are lusting so hard over the amazeballs Nonna’s Special—in-house Italian meatballs with a rich tomato sauce, mozzarella, parmesan and parsley—and the Los Pollos Hermanos—a roasted red capsicum sauce with mozzarella, crunchy battered chicken, avocado, red onion, mayo and specialty blue salt (which we think is actually crack, it’s super addictive). If you're dining in you can't pass up one of the skillet pizzas, deep dish and filled with cheese these bad boys will give you cheese dreams for days. As for dessert, you can't go wrong whatever your choice!

The Prophet Lebanese Cafe

With good service, good atmosphere and great food, East Victoria Park restaurant The Prophet might just become your new fave eatery. With plenty of tempting options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike, trust the staff when they very politely mention you might have ordered too much. If you really want to try those extra things on the menu you might just have to go back, or get ready to unbutton your pants.

Superstar Waffles

Waffles from Northbridge cafe Superstar Waffles are not your standard breakfast waffle. Flavour combos like banoffee, warm apple pie and the tried and true peanut butter mousse with Oreo crumble escalate these superstars way in to the dessert category. Having said that, we certainly wouldn't judge you for having one for breakfast...just sayin.

We love hot dogs and we love Perth food trucks... so it makes sense that we double love Wassup Dog. Hanging out in North Fremantle at Mojo's most weekends to satisfy your late night hot dog cravings, you can also find them at various night markets about town. With organic beef, free range chicken and a vegetarian option (yep, vegetarian hot dogs, you read that right!) and some freakin' awesome homemade garlic mayo, it's not wonder we dream about these dawgs all week long. Fee Fi Pho Fum

Finally we can get pho in Subiaco! That's right, gone are the days of having to drive the torturous 11 minutes to Northbridge for a decent Vietnamese feed! The decor at Fee Fi Pho Fum is cheap and cheerful, and so is the food. With the pho coming in under the $10 mark and a banh mi for less than $8, we would very happily come back here again and again.

Sparrow

Look no further than Perth restaurant Sparrow for cheap and tasty Indonesian take away (some dine in available, if you’re lucky) with cheery local hospitality. It’s by no means fine dining, but the locals pack in every evening to get their hands on favourites like the Beef Rendang. Delicious!

Lost Society

While we used to think of Lost Society as a place for hip young things to bump and grind (are the kids saying 'bump and grind' these days?), their new fusion menu proves it's also the perfect spot to head after work for some bar snacks or a more substantial dinner. But don't worry, in the late hours of the weekend, the bar still transforms into your favourite dance spot, playing hip hop and r&b while the bar pumps out espresso martinis by the dozen.

Annapurna Nepalese Kitchen

There is bound to be something for everyone at Annapurna Nepalese Kitchen in Highgate, with over 70 dishes ranging and a good range of vegan and gluten free options, you can't really go wrong. The huge interior is perfect for large groups but it's also great for a small party of two. This gem is one of Highgate's best kept secrets, the food is crazy good and we can never get enough—we even get extra meals to take home for the next few days.
