Boasting a multi-million-dollar makeover, the new and improved Sydney Fish Market opened on Monday 19 January 2026. Claiming the title of the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere, the fish market is filled with fresh seafood traders, exciting food retailers, cool restaurants and bars.
There’s also more than just seafood, with gelato by Cow & The Moon, Vietnamese street food by Leryd and cult-fave coldbrews by Stitch Coffee on offer. Stroll on through this weekend to check out the refurb, grab some grub and bask in Sydney’s newest seafood spot.

Emerging from London’s underground and featuring on Charli XCX’s iconic Brat remix album, Shygirl is bringing her pulsing, genre-bending club music to Sydney at Liberty Hall.

Hottest 100 Day Parties

It’s that time again to place your bets on who will take out the top song of 2025. Triple J’s Hottest 100 Countdown is kicking off this Saturday 24 January and huge parties are happening around Sydney for the special day, primed for a long weekend boogie.
Darlinghurst’s Taphouse is going full-throttle with a supersized rooftop party. They’ll be broadcasting from 12pm, and slinging $15 frozen cocktails, $18 spritzes and beer specials with $1 from every jug donated to We Are Mobilise.
Also digging into the day, BrewDog South Everleigh is hosting an all-day listening party in its lush beer garden. There’ll be crisp beers and a brill BBQ spread—perfect for a more laid-back Hottest 100 experience.

King Street Crawl

A massive round-up of free live gigs is taking over for the King Street Crawl, stretching through Newtown, Enmore, Erskineville and Marrickville with over 30 venues on board.
More than 200 artists are pumping through slick venues like Pleasure Club, Factory Theatre, Duke of Enmore and heaps more. Spanning all genres, from indie rock to electronic, it's one helluva lineup.
The crawl is also collaborating with Newtown tattoo parlour, Skin Deep, for a full day of flash tats by some incredible artists. Plus, thanks to the legends at Up, Young Henrys and the Inner West Council, Eliza Street is shutting down from 12pm to 8pm for an epic day party featuring live music, DJs, cold bevs and Uncle Ay-jay’s Fusion Tacos.
It’s free entry, with donations encouraged at the door for the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre.
Sydney Festival

Sydney Festival is back for 2026, marking its 50th city-wide takeover of art, theatre, music, dance and more. Under new Festival Director Kris Nelson, the program blends storytelling, spectacle and intergenerational collaboration.
Expect live music under the stars at Tumbalong Park with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra on 17 January, world-class talent from Ireland at Carriageworks with WAKE on 14-25 January, boundary-pushing shows like Lacrima at Roslyn Packer Theatre on 22-25 January, and a whole lot more unique acts, installations and family-friendly activities.

Woollahra Hotel is delving right into the AO energy with its Tennis on the Terrace pop-up. The games are being blown up on the big screen on The Terrace with limited-edition AO food specials to match, curated by Bistro Moncur Head Chef Tom Deadman. Think chicken finger sandos and baguettes loaded with roasted pork belly, chargrilled steak or tiger prawns.

With the heat dialled all the way up this summer, Macquarie Ice Rink’s re-opening couldn’t have come at a better time. An inner-city institution since 1981, the Olympic-sized rink spent most of 2025 undergoing a multi-million-dollar glow-up—and now it’s officially back. Expect a pristine new ice surface, slick tech upgrades and modern amenities.
They also have a disco session every Friday and Saturday night from 8.30pm to 10.30pm. Including skate hire, all session tickets are $32 for adults, $29 for students, $28 for children under 16 years and $12 for children under 5 years with a paying adult.
Pickleball At South Eveleigh
