This Weekend In Sydney

By Lucy Cook - 05 Feb 2015

The week of music and markets! Sydney will be alive with eating, dancing, running, and shopping this weekend, so whatever you’re into there will be something to keep you, and your Instagram feed, busy when you’re looking for things to do in Sydney.

Thursday 5th

Retrosweat Surry Hills

For the reluctant exerciser with a passion for Madonna, Retrosweat will be your new favourite church and gym—it’s the most fun you can have working out. Retrosweat is an ‘80s-style freestyle aerobic workout based on the original VHS workouts made famous by the likes of Jane Fonda and Cher.  Smash out some sweet moves to 12 classic ‘80s grooves that change weekly and you’ll be having so much fun you wont even think about all the calories you’re burning and the body toning that’s going on. If I could turn back time, if I could find a way, I’d do Retrosweat everyday… (sorry).

Friday 6th

Redfern Night Markets

You all know we love a market, but Night Markets are the crème de la crème of the Sydney market scene. The Redfern Night Markets will be on the first Friday of every month and have relocated to the Redfern Community Centre. Supported by the Sydney City Council as a positive space to enhance Redfern’s cross-creative artistic culture, the markets will be a hotbed for great food vendors and food trucks, outdoor theatre-style entertainment, and of course a range of stalls featuring arts and crafts, fashion, homewares, and jewellery. The perfect way to wind down your workweek.

Rock and Roll Circus

In the spirit of the original Rolling Stones circus show in the ‘60s, Sydney based singer/songwriter, Mick Hart has put together a brilliant new show for one night only at The Vanguard. Each act will perform an original set and the show will culminate with a huge combined finale of ‘60s classics. Take your dad or your friends—it’s sure to be a great night.

Liverpool Night Markets

Rejoice! More Night Markets! These markets are held on the first Saturday of every month in Macquarie Street in Liverpool and are full of music and street food.
