13 Awesome Things To Do This Weekend In Melbourne

By Grace Evans - 25 May 2017

The working week can be pretty draining, but it helps when you have a weekend of awesome stuff to look forward to. Keep pushing on people, because the weekend is near we can almost taste it. We’re talking a life-changing donut buffet, decadent pastries and a whole lotta vegan Greek food. If that doesn’t cure those mid-week blues, we don’t know what will.

Here’s everything you need to check out this week/weekend in Melbourne.

Thursday 25 May

Greek Vegan Fest

Over the years, Greece has brought us some of the most perfect food...then the vegans came along and decided to team up. BOOM, the Greek Vegan Fest was born.  Go and enjoy this delicious 5-course meal at Salona, featuring lentil kefte with herb skordalia, peanut butter baklava, and their famous mushroom moussaka. They even have vegan wines (!!) To top it off, this feast has a good purpose: raising funds for the Cambodia Rural Student Trust. You’d be silly not to grab tickets.

Southern-Style Cocktails At Nieuw Amsterdam

For the next few weeks Wild Turkey cocktails will be taking over at Nieuw Amsterdam, so consider this your hot tip when it comes to your next southern cocktail fix. There’s plenty of food on offer throughout the month—fries with Mary-Rose sauce (that’s a Wild Turkey bourbon mayo and tomato sauce hybrid, FYI), pork crackling with Wild Turkey citrus glaze, and a cheeseburger with Wild Turkey BBQ sauce. Make sure you try the simple Wild Turkey and apple combo, and two barrel aged signature cocktails to boot. From 7pm entertainment will come in the shape of a jazz band crooning up on stage. This also doubles as an art gallery with artworks displayed on whiskey barrels from Guerrilla. Bring on tomorrow night!

When: Saturday 27 May, Saturday 3 June, Saturday 10 June, Saturday 17 June
