New Opening: Harlan Pepper Food Co.

Drop everything you’re doing immediately. An insanely epic new eatery has opened up in Kingsland and it’s looking like the most wonderful, whacky and personality-filled yet.

Harlan Pepper Food Co. has just opened its doors and we’re already wondering what we’d do without it! The eatery features a spacious, vibrant fit-out, jam-packed with excitement in every corner. From expertly-crafted light fittings, a hip counter and cabinet to groovy murals, it’s pretty much an Intsagrammers’ dream come true.

Brought to us by Hemi Gibson and Todd Lawrence, the duo has spared no expense in bringing Harlan Pepper to life. Having killed the foodie scene in Hamilton with two award-winning cafes, Todd and Hemi set their sights on Auckland.

“Harlan Pepper takes things back to good hearty classic kiwi food,” says Todd. “We aren’t shy when it comes to our portions either.”

On the menu you’ll find hints of various cuisines, inspired by their travels around the world. Opt for Jeff’s choice—the mammoth-sized breakfast burrito. Crammed tight with potato hash, fragrant chipotle beans, bacon, egg and cheese all wrapped in a flour tortilla and of course, accompanied with a hefty dollop of coriander-topped sour cream, you’ll be sensationally satisfied.

Big night out last night? Hemi’s top pick has got your back. The ultimate hangover cure “La Tuti Tuti” includes rosemary-infused potato, fiery chorizo, braised ham, a winning garlic and spinach combo, topped with a poached egg.

Another option is the Rosti Stack, kicking a classic eggs benny to the kerb you’ll find a mountain of avocado, bacon and poached egg topped with fresh lime-infused hollandaise, all on one heck of a potato rosti.

Taking their bagel game very seriously, each is full to the brim and practically bursting at the seams. Our top pick would have to be the ’T.AB.L.E’, a breakfast bagel with tomato, avocado, bacon, lettuce and egg, oozing with aioli and chutney, it’s a winner in our books!

The epic lunch selection is definitely worth raving about. Our top pick is The Kings Belly. One for the ‘Gram, this royal number features a succulent slow-roast pork belly, a moreish smoked cauliflower puree, beetroot and ginger relish and epic crunchy kumara chips. Or, opt for the cheeky Baa Baa Smoked Sheep, a power salad combo with tender, hot medium-rare smoked lamb, balsamic roasted baby beets, slow cooked tomato, goat’s milk feta and honey roasted walnut. This bad boy is one mountain of awesomeness.

For those daily hustlers on the go, wishing for a taste of the heavenly Harlan offering they also offer a cabinet stocked full of goodies and treats. Changing on the daily, you’ll find freshly baked cakes, melts, panini and salads that are sure to have you coming back for more.

You’ll also want to keep an eye on their ever-changing menu. Inspired by their travels around the world, Hemi and Todd will be showing off their learnings with each dish showcasing the best of which every cuisine has to offer.

Pretty much the answer to all of our foodie prayers, Harlan Pepper Food Co. is set to be the new hub of everything foodtastic.
