New Pop Up: The Nightingale

Auckland’s Viaduct is on a serious roll of epicness. Not only is it set to launch a light show this weekend, but they’ve also welcomed new pop-up, The Nightingale. This bright beauty will offer some much-needed winter respite, with live bands, DJs and comedy to entertain your socks off.

Brought to you by the the same people behind Cassette Number Nine as well as other Queenstown bars, you know this is gonna be good.

“We’re about good craft beer and food, welcoming service, and a broad line-up of acts, bands and DJs for all types of ears,” says co-owner John Hennessy.

On the water’s edge, The Nightingale serves up plenty of craft and international brews as well as a carefully selected wine menu and naturally, cocktails.

The food menu is centred around the beer—it’s good old comfort food at its best. Sharing is caring, folks, so choose a shared platter for your belly delight. With different options, we can’t wait to try the hot pork, chicken and beef served with whipped honey butter, volcanic salt, mixed grain bread and gray. Yum.

If you’d prefer to keep food to yourself, then there’s plenty to choose from, too. Burgers include pulled pork with bourbon sauce, crispy shallots, pickled red cabbage and red onion or even a fried shrimp and oyster hoagie with cajun aioli. Vegetarians, don’t despair, because they’ve also got a roasted red pepper and halloumi burger just for you.

There’s also food that’ll give you all the feels of a mammoth hug—mac ‘n cheese, waffles and grandma’s chocolate cake.

In the evenings, take a pew on the verandah with its pretty vintage Tiffany lights or mosey inside for some live entertainment.

Open for six months The Nightingale is another reason why you’ll be heading to the Viaduct.
