NZ Fashion Week is back in town fellow fashion lovers—and we’ve got the inside scoop on what this iconic event is bringing to the sartorial scene this year.
Taking place from Monday 26 through to Friday 30 at Aotea Square, NZFW will play host to fashion-forward industry runway shows and events. New Zealand’s most coveted and iconic labels as well as a splash of emerging designers will put their best stilettoed feet forward and showcase their latest creations.
Fashion Weekend then continues the fashion festivities from Friday evening through to Sunday with ticketed shows and events, wrapping up a week of high-octane creativity, glamour and style.
While creativity, diversity, fashion and inspiration are at the heart of NZFW, sustainability is the theme in the spotlight this year.
In a new partnership to champion this, Auckland Council have teamed up with NZFW to curate a series of slick, sustainability-focused sartorial activations around the city for fashion lovers to sink their teeth into. Oh, and did we mention they’re all free?
Headlining this initiative is the Sustainability Show, featuring looks from the nation’s sustainability focused designers. The fashion then steps off the runway, as the Central City Library plays host to Sustainable Design Exhibition in a showcase of fabulous sustainable fashion.
Fellow fashionistas can mix and mingle with fashion industry experts at the Sustainable Fashion Speed Dating event, or peruse for recycled fashion treasures at the Swap it Like It’s Hot 3.0 clothing swap.
For a hands-on sustainable fashion experience, Gracie Matthews will be sharing her tips and tricks to add pizzazz to your existing clothes through sewing, repairing and working with textiles and the ReCreators will also dishout their upcycling expertise through a Textile Upcycling Workshop. Writing and doodling more your thing? The Migrant Zine Collective’s workshop also offers another unique creative outlet in this festival of creative sustainability.
