Matariki’s Darkness and Light installation brings the stars down to earth and you’ll find the stars amongst the silos at Silo Park.
People have been fascinated by these gleaming gaseous orbs since time began but they've been out of reach. And now, Angus Muir Design brings them to you!
This is more than an installation. It’s an experience. When do you ever get the opportunity to walk amongst the stars? It will take you on a journey exploring the traditional Maori theme from nothingness (Te Kore) to light (Te Ao).
You will start in complete darkness with your only guide being light and sound, which will be triggered by your movement. As you walk through the silos the installation will only get brighter.
Here you can get lost in the lights, mirrors and haze.
You can view by day or by night, but remember the sun won’t outshine the stars at night.
As well as light, there’ll be also markets, live music and of course kai. What more could you need? So make a night of it and visit this sparklin’ art piece.
