Stop Exercising, Start Training | We’ve Found Auckland’s Hottest New Workout

New year new you, huh? This year you’re going to run a marathon, master that pull-up and bench more than The Rock (you’ve so totally got this).

To get you on your merry way, it’s time to stop exercising and start training. That’s right! No more blobbing around in the gym doing half-assed reps that—newsflash!—get you no results. Instead, training is all about a) a goal and b) a decent game plan. Because, let’s be honest, a goal without a plan is simply just a wish—you gotta hustle for that muscle!

Thanks to NikeWomen, training just got a whooole lot more fun (and fitspirational!) with Auckland’s hottest new workout, Metcon Mondays.

Run by NTC (aka Nike+ Training Club), the six-week training programme encourages you and your team to work together to smash your fitness goals. The workouts involve strength and endurance drills that are sure to get your heart pumping and muscles burning.

The free (free!) trainings will kick off on Monday, January 23 at the Nike+ Studio in Auckland University’s Rec Centre. Sound like a bit of you? Sign up with three to five of your buddies and get set to train like a bawse.

You’ll have to attend a “Start Training” workout this Friday morn. This workshop will teach you the movements for the rest of the programme so you can sass the Metcon Monday sessions without putting your back out.

Metcon Mondays will be lead by Auckland’s Nike trainer Mel Teh and Silver Fern Kayla Cullen will be there to cheer you on. Having overcome an injury, Kayla be training alongside the teams and working towards her goal of cementing her spot back into the Silver Ferns.

The training programme coincides with the release of Nike Metcon DSX Flyknit. Not only will the shoe have you looking fly (pun intended), it’s the most versatile training shoe ever. We’re talking durability and cushioning to help you become better, faster and stronger—hells yeah.

When: The six-week programme kicks off on Monday, January 23. There are two classes per Monday (5pm to 6pm and 6.30pm to 7.30pm).
