With Mother’s Day 2024 around the corner (Sunday 12 May for those of you who haven’t marked your diaries) you may be wondering how to spoil the ultimate goddess in your life.

A beautiful bouquet of Perth flowers delivered to her door is always a good start, but we reckon there’s nothing better than settling in for a day of treating your nearest and dearest to everything they love in life.

From day spas to a bottomless brunch filled with mimosas—here’s our wrap of how to earn some serious credit with Mum this Mother’s Day.

For The Foodie Mum

Go For The Classic Mother's Day Breakfast

Sometimes a big ol’ brekky with a mimosa or two is exactly what Mum wants and there’s nothing wrong with that. You can invite all the special people in your life—Mums, Nanas, Aunties and friends (yes the gents can come too), and celebrate over eggs. Get in early to snag a booking at one of Perth’s best breakfast spots or hit up any of these go-to Perth cafes. It's one of the busiest mornings of the year, so whatever you do, don't expect to just walk-in.

Spend The Arvo Grazing On A Long Lunch

For those Mums (and kids) that prefer a Sunday sleep in, head out for a relaxed long lunch somewhere spesh. With its sweeping gardens, Coogee Common is a gorg spot to linger over a fresh, seasonal lunch full of organic produce. Otherwise, why not try somewhere in the Swan Valley for the day? Sandalford Estate always puts on a stunner.

Learn To Master A New Cuisine Together

If the special lady in your life fancies herself a bit of a chef and loves to dive into new recipes (or maybe you'd just love her to move on from that same dish she cooks every week), booking a cooking class together promises to knock her socks off. Not only will you enjoy quality time together, you’ll get to cook up a feast and be rewarded as you dine on your hard work. The Cooking Professor in Mount Hawthorn offers everything from Middle Eastern Cuisine to Ramen and Italian. It may become an annual event.

Share A Swanky High Tea

Put on your Sunday best for the classiest high tea in the city. We’re talking ribbon sandwiches, fresh, fluffy scones and plenty of pinky-raising. Whether she’s into delicate desserts, dainty sandwiches, chocolate or champagne, Mum’s sure to love the spread at the city’s most sophisticated high tea establishments, which you can browse right here.

Drool Over Baked Cheese

If high tea isn’t Mum’s thing, surely cheese and champagne is? The team at La Vie has the most indulgent High Cheese you could dream of, with a four-tier stand full of cheese treats to dig into. Add a flute of Moet or go all out with a tasting flight.

Raise Your Glass To A Boozy Bottomless Brunch

If you know Mum can last the long haul, a bottomless brunch is where it’s at. Food paired with endless booze? Sounds like a sweet deal to us. We’ve rounded up the best options out there, from Spanish tapas and sangria to gin cocktails and spritzes on tap—you may want to ask Mum to book the Monday off… this one might get a bit rowdy.

For The Creative Mum

Spend Time Together At A Paint And Sip

If your mum is most creative with a paintbrush in one hand and a glass of wine in the other, then a paint and sip class is absolutely worth booking. Some of these paint and sip studios will even let you BYO cheese board—how's that for a day out? Plus mum gets to take home the ultimate mum-sterpiece, and probably your painting as well, just like when you where in preschool.

Take Her To Learn A New Skill

If Mum loves to get hands-on, take her to a session at one of Perth's best creative workshops, with everything from calligraphy to gift-wrapping and loom weaving on offer. You could also get her hands dirty at a pottery class—who knows, she might discover a hidden talent.

For The Outdoorsy Mum

Head Off On A Bloom-Filled Stroll

If a leisurely flower walk sounds more Mum's speed, be sure to check out Subi Blooms. The immersive floral art trail takes over the streets of Subiaco from May 10-12—and trust us, it'll knock mum's socks off even more than your year 9 art project.

Take In Some Fresh Air On A Hike

If Mum's idea of a perfect Sunday is pulling on the boots and hitting the trail, take your pick from our best spots to take a hike in and around Perth. From leisurely short walks the whole fam will enjoy (maybe even Grandma?) to more intense paths that will have her (and you) huffing and puffing, it's hard to think of a more wholesome way to spend a Sunday together.

Set Sail With The Whole Family

For a memorable Mother's Day experience, book a boat from Nauti Picnics and spoil Mum to a picnic while cruising on the river. You can BYO all of Mum's favourite snacks, or opt to order a grazing board and gin tasting for your cruise. You can learn more about the boats (which are dog-friendly, too!) here.

Pack A Picnic For Perth’s Best

Find the wooden picnic basket and get set up at one of Perth’s prettiest picnic places. Go for the iconic King’s Park or look out over the City at South Perth foreshore. A chunk of cheese, loaf of bread and sweet treat or two will make Mum’s day as good as it gets.

For The Mum That Just Needs To Chill

Send Her Off To A Spa Day

For mums feeling a little stressed (let's be real, most of them are thanks to our questionable life choices), a spa day is just what the doctor ordered. Whether she’s a fan of a hot stone massage or more of a mani-pedi kind of gal, the city is packed with plenty of luxe day spas guaranteed to melt Mum’s worries away. Check out our list of Perth’s best day spas for our top picks on the best facials, massages, steams and more.

Spoil Her With a Stunning Bouquet

Treat your mum to a fragrant, floral surprise this Mother’s Day with a beautiful bouquet delivered from a local Perth florist. Offering everything from Australian natives to potted plants, the city’s flower artists are guaranteed to give Mum something worthy of her special day. With delivery options starting at just $30, prepare to score some opulent stalks and stems that put traditional pink roses to shame.
