If fresh, local, and all round delectable fish and chips are what you’re after then Clayfield Seafood Market is your answer. These guys aren’t your regular fish and chip shop though, no sir. The seafood here is fresh not frozen for a start and is locally sourced. Everything is boned and filleted on site and they even make their own batter using Newstead Brewing Co.’s Amber Ale—it’s a full blown local love affair. Plus, all of their sauces are made on site too; none of those impossible to squeeze sauce sachets here, folks. Gluten-free peeps, they’ve got you covered too with a separate fryer for gluten-free chips and a whole bunch of GF options. Oh boy.
PappaRich
Tucked away in the Wintergarden, PappaRich are serving up quintessential Malaysian classics like nasi lemak and laksa, and is the go-to for authentic—and delicious—Malaysian food. The roti canai is possibly their most famous dish (their fluffy, buttery house made roti served with curry dipping sauces is to die for!), but stop in for a sweet snack and try the hainan bread, a delish traditional sweet bread served with traditional Malay coffee.

Hello Please operates out of a shipping container in front of a huuuge graffiti mural of Muhamad Ali—insert pun about the food here being ‘the greatest’—and under string upon string of fairy lights. It really is a cool venue, there’s no denying that. The seating is communal and a far cry from the tiny plastic stools you’ll find lining the streets of Vietnam.

Plus, they do dinner on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Brisbane has finally landed a huuuge organic super store in Rocklea, right next to the markets, so you know it's fresh. So, expect mega-fresh organic-produce from Aussie farmers including fruit, veg, meat, milk, eggs, bread, natural cosmetics and a whole lot more. There's also a cafe, serving up (you guesed it) organic, local goodies. The aptly named Evolve Cafe does a great gourmet sandwich, and a whole heap of cold pressed juices. It's a one stop shop.
