2016 spring fashion trends to follow

The days are getting warmer, the nights are getting longer, and there’s no denying spring is in full swing. With it comes a seasonal wardrobe update—it’s time to pack away the coats and sweats, and start thinking about what you are going to wear in the sun.
If you need a little inspo, here are our top trends that we’re loving this spring.

#1 Mules

No, this kind of mule is not of the animal kind! It is the biggest shoe trend of the season and it comes in many different variations from the flat to the sling back, through to the low-heeled and open-toe. Find the style that suits you and pick your poison.

#2 Cropped Flares

We thought we swore to never wear flares again, yet somehow they’ve made their way back into our wardrobes. Of course, they always come back with a new twist, and this time they’re cropped. You can go for a subtle flare or a bold flare Georgia Alice style, or perhaps just a raw edge, cropped denim.

#3 Relaxed Jeans

Word on the street is skinny jeans are out and mom jeans are in. We’re not gonna lie we’re pretty into this trend, relaxed jeans are much more comfortable on a night out especially when you’re overindulging in a little too much food. Look to the street style queens on how to rock this trend, but our advice is a crisp collared shirt, and some mules (of course)!

#4 Accentuated Sleeves

If you haven’t seen the accentuated sleeve trend then you must have been hiding under a rock. The trend which started from above, including some of our fave designers, think Ellery, Georgia Alice and Zimmermann, has trickled down into our hands (and budget).

#5 Blazers

Blazers are perfect for spring dressing—when it’s not quite cold enough to wear a coat, but you still want to look sexy and smart. Steer away from the corporate style and look to some of your favourite designers for a more fashionable approach on this trend.

#6 Pyjama Dressing

It’s obvious to see why pyjama dressing is on our list of trends we love this spring. Who wouldn’t want to wear basically your pyjamas to work? Ok so technically, they’re not your actual pyjamas, but it is now acceptable to wear silky robes, camisoles and relaxed pants in public.

#7 90’s layering

We’ve seen some frightening trends from the 90s trying to make their ways back into our wardrobe—note rainbow one-shouldered tops and cropped boob tubes. While we are not too keen on the above ideas, we are falling for the 90s layering trend. It’s so practical being able to wear your favourite slip dress with a basic tee underneath or turtleneck. Word of advice—start simple, try neutral colours and simple styles. We’re not quite ready for the clashing print skirts over striped pants.
