Sometimes, pressing play on a mind-numbing comedy is absolutely necessary, and ol’ faithful Netflix is coming in hot with a new addition to the American Pie franchise, American Pie: Girls’ Rules.
American Pie: Girls’ Rules will make up the ninth film in the series, while marking the first return to East Great Falls high school since 2012. Like many of the spin-off flicks to hit our screens over the past decade, this female-centric addition will introduce a new gang of teens fighting their way through confused, teen emotions.
For the most part, the cast brings together a troupe of teen-comedy newcomers to the screen, though you may recognise some faces from straight-to-dvd flicks such as One Night or Here and Now.
While you may not recall the brunt of the characters, several names may ring a bell, most notably Stephanie Stifler. Played by Lizze Broadway, fans can expect Stephanie to reprise her older brother’s crass but good-natured character in Girls’ Rule.
Details on the plot are limited, though details suggest the senior year girls are devising a plan and out to get what they want from their final 12 months at East Great Falls. The trailer, which you can peep below, also suggests the gang follow a path similar to that of the OG American Pie from 1999—yep, two decades since that one was released. Let that sink in until you can watch American Pie: Girls’ Rules later this year.
