Last year featured a delicious array of health food trends, but it’s time to say goodbye to 2017...and with it the poke bowls, activated charcoal lattes, smashed avo toast, blue smoothies and fermented everything.

It's 2018 now, and we're making way for a whole new range of health fads. Bring on the mushroom lattes!


With the fast-paced lives we all seem to lead, most of us need a little stress relief from time to time. And that’s why we're predicting adaptogenic herbs like ginseng, holy basil, ashwagandha and licorice root are going to be on-trend in 2018. Adaptogens work to lower cortisol levels (a stress hormone) and recharge your adrenals. Yes please!


If you’re not yet on the collagen buzz, you probably will be soon—it feels like collagen powders are becoming more and more popular every week. Simply pop a spoonful into your morning smoothie and see thicker hair, stronger nails, better skin and even improved immunity.

Functional Mushrooms

It’s time to say goodbye to your turmeric/charcoal/beetroot latte and say hello to 2018’s new trend: the mushroom latte. Functional mushrooms such as Chaga, Lion’s Mane and Reishi are known to have an abundance of benefits—warding off a common cold, promoting thick shiny hair, increased concentration and high energy levels. Get on it. 

Plant-Based Diets

It’s no secret that going vegan has become a huge trend in the last few years, with the number of vegans raised by 360% in the last decade. And that number is only going up. With that in mind, it’s not surprising that we're going to see a major plant-based food trend in 2018. Think pulled jackfruit and other plant-based meat replacements hitting the shelves.

Intermittent Fasting

Yup, the intermittent fasting trend is here to stay, and it’s all about when you eat, not what you eat. Basically, you go without food for around 16 hours and then have a period of eight hours where you eat your entire day’s worth of food in order to lose body fat. We are going to sit this one out and stick to our 16 hour eating period...and 8 hour fasting period.

Middle Eastern

We've definitely loved the Hawaiian poke bowls that went off in 2017, but we're super excited about 2018's Middle Eastern food trend. I mean, who can resist halloumi, falafel, hummus, dates and pomegranates?


Move over, ‘nose-to-tail’, root-to-stem is here to join the plant-based party! We're looking forward to seeing this trend take off, with inventive ways to eat your potato skins, broccoli stalks, carrot tops and everything you usually chuck out when preparing your veggies.
