The $200 million live action remake of Mulan was meant to be one of the biggest cinema releases of 2020. But when COVID forced the film industry to come to a standstill, shutting cinemas across the globe and postponing release dates, we’d pretty much given up hope that we’d see the badass warrior princess on the big screen any time soon.
But just this morning we were delivered some very pleasing news—Mulan is bypassing the cinemas and is instead heading direct to the Disney+ streaming service.
That’s right, you can catch the epic flick from the comfort of your couch so all you need to do is figure out how to make choc tops at home and fire up the popcorn machine.
Unlike the release of Hamilton, Mulan will cost you an extra fee—even if you’re a regular Disney+ account holder—setting you back US$29.99 (approximately AU$40, NZ$43). But if you split it between a couple of mates that is still a whole lot cheaper than heading to the local movie theatre.
This sweet deal is only offered in countries where Disney+ is available (including the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) and will drop 4 September.

Not a member and want to sign up? It will get you back $8.99 a month or $89.99 for a year subscription—go on, you know you want to.
