Here’s the deal, workations are the new staycations and we’re not even remotely mad about it.

Earlier this year, off the back of coronavirus, Barbados announced that it was working on creating a 12-month “welcome stamp” which would essentially allow visitors to hang out on the island for an entire year and work remotely. Now, news has just come in from the Maldives re: a very similar situation and we’ve already started packing our bags.

If you’ve never heard of the Nautilus Maldives, you’re in for a real treat. The luxury resort, which only opened last year, is located on a small, secluded island in the Maldives ever-stunning Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Made up of 26 ocean villas, each beachside haven includes its own freshwater swimming pool and private butler. And here's the best time of year to visit.

The bohemian hideaway reopened its doors September 1 and is now offering one of the most out-there “Workation” packages which comes complete with daily yoga, fitness and meditation classes and even a private dolphin cruise at sunset. The staff at Nautilus Maldives will even set up a Wi-Fi-enabled workstation for you on a sandbank with uninterrupted views of the ocean. To top it all off, your accommodation will also come with all the “working remotely” must-haves to keep you connected including a phone, wireless printer, stationery, scanner, portable projector and screen.

As you might have guessed, it’s not the cheapest place you could work from remotely but it’s definitely one we’ll be dreaming about for the rest of the year.
