K’ Road classic Fort Greene has re-opened in a better and bigger venue and we couldn't be any more excited.
Brought to us by duo Liam Fox and Andrea Muhlhausen, the new space remains on K' Road, keeping Fort Greene close to its roots. Featuring earthy tones and the smell of bread fresh from the oven, it’s a carb-lovers dream. Peer into the open kitchen as the bakers work their magic as you're waiting for the sammie of a lifetime.
“We thought sandwiches had so much untapped potential,” says Liam, the inspiration behind Fort Greene. “We work with local produce to create restaurant quality sandwiches.”
Keeping single simple and effective, Fort Greene’s menu offers ‘breakfast stuff’ before eleven, things on sourdough and sandwich offerings which are sure to knock your socks off.
Our top pick is their take on the classic beans on toast. Just a whiff of this dish is enough to kick your appetite into overdrive, loaded with oxaca mole rojo and black beans, pink pickle, coriander, toasted seeds and a dollop of sour cream, it’s so good you’ll forget to take a 'gram.
Any Fort Greener will be able to tell you Andrea’s fave—the fish one—is not to be missed. Starring house cured and smoked fresh line-caught kahawai fish fingers on a bed of mushy peas, topped with tartare sauce and snow pea feathers this gem has been the talk of the Auckland foodie scene for quite some time.
Of course, nothing beats a classic. The ooey gooey grilled cheese is, quite frankly, a masterpiece that had us falling in love at first bite. With a side of pickles and pickled red cabbage, the four cheese blend will melt in your mouth and take you on a one-way trip to cloud nine.
Pair delicious with delicious and check out the selection of baked goods available from the counter. From cheesy scones to cinnamon scrolls you’ll be in bliss with every bite.
Brewing Peoples Coffee and with most offerings available to go so you can take the awesomeness with you, Fort Greene is the perfect one-stop-spot on the daily hustle.
