Wine and cheese is a combo that we’re all not afraid to show our love for. But we’re all guilty of getting rid of that fancy façade and trading in the glass of pinot for a pint of good old, comforting beer behind closed doors. And, local legends Sabato are well aware of this guilty pleasure and turned the heavenly combination to a festival!
This exciting event will be a fun fromage-filled night at their store in Mt. Eden, for one night only on Wednesday 1st August. Naturally, we’re not talking about any old cheese! Sabato are pretty much Auckland’s cheese experts and they’ll provide nothing but premium quality. You ghouda love that!
Here’s a little taste of what they have in store for you: there’ll be poutine by none other than the poutine food truck wizard himself, Phillipe. Yummm. And, there’ll even be grilled cheese sandwiches from Guerilla Grill. Meyer Cheese and Mt. Eliza will be inside providing MORE cheese as well as other fruit pastes from Zoe Bone, Julie Le Clerc chutney and honey from J Friend & Co to elevate the cheesy experience.
Beer will be supplied by Garage Project and there will be a tonne of tastings and samples to learn just how good beer goes best with which cheese. The endless number of samples will give you the perfect excuse to try every different type of beer...for scientific purposes!
If that wasn’t enough cheese for you, boy do we have more news for you. For all those who missed out on the French Festival, don’t you worry as Calum from Sabato will be serving raclette! Think, melted cheese covering a baguette, cornichons and sweet white garlic for just five bucks a plate. We guarantee you’ll fall in love with this cuisine and, thankfully they’ll have raclette grills and fondue sets for sale that night so you can make this indulgent feast in the comfort of your own home.
Ooey, gooey cheese and beer? We know where we’ll be!
