Oh, Potterheads, we know your obsession knows no bounds. You’ve read every book so many times you can quote entire paragraphs by memory, you feel like every (good) character is a part of your family, and you wear round specs because you need them you want to be like Harry.
And then, just when you thought life couldn’t get any better, you found out that there’s going to be a stage show—Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This news was quickly followed by despair because the trip to London to see it was just too damn expensive.
Dry your eyes, Potter fans, because this morning Little, Brown Book Group has announced they will be publishing a book—The Special Rehearsal Edition of the script book. The play will open on the 30th of July, and the books will be published at 11.01am NZST (exactly) the following day!
The play/story is the eighth in the series, nineteen years later. Harry is now an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and a father of three and grappling with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs. His youngest son is struggling with a family legacy he never wanted. The past and present fuse and both learn an uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.
Note that this special edition will be made during the rehearsal period, and so it may change. In time it will be replaced by the Definitive Collector’s Edition.
