Aucklanders, get excited because one of the best photography exhibitions in the world is returning to hit our shores. Yep, we're talking about the World Press Photo Exhibition. The event brought to us by the Rotary Club will be held in the stunning top story of the Smith & Caughey’s building on Queen Street and is not be missed.
For those who aren’t too familiar with this epic event, let us give you a little briefing of what’s in store for you. The World Press Photo Competition is recognised as the best photography competitions by professional press photographers, photojournalists and documentary photographers from all around the world so trust us when we say it is next level a.mazing. These talented peeps were there to capture the world's most powerful moments—from raw human emotion to war to nature—and now it's our chance to see these amazing works of art.
From the 78,801 images submitted by more than 4,738 photographers, it was narrowed down to just EIGHT categories and 42 photographers being prized for being the best of the best. These winning images will be in the exhibition with captions to accompany them to read the story behind them.
Channel your inner artist, head on over to Smith & Caughey’s and take a moment to appreciate the moments captured from the current state of affairs of our world. Get ready for goosebumps—you have been warned!
