No, we’re not talking about moving on to making grilled cheese sammies here (no matter how amazing they are). Were talking about upping your game and being able to whip up a Michelin Star-worthy feed. So, to help you embrace your inner Nigella or Gordon, we’ve scoped out the best cooking classes our city has to offer.

Main Course

If you want to be the envy of all your mates at the next pot-luck dinner, then brushing up on your cooking at Main Course is the way to go. Here you’ll find a humungous selection of classes that will have you churning out Master Chef level meals. If you’re feeling generous, they also have gift vouchers for classes up for grabs if you wanna spread the foodie love to your friends and fam (or drop a subtle hint that they need to up their food game).

Sachie’s Kitchen

Looking to spice up your culinary repertoire? Then say ni-hao, konichiwa and namaste to your ultimate foodie destination, Sachie’s Kitchen! Sachie and her team are bringing aaaalll the authentic flavours of South-East and Central Asia to our kitchens in Auckland. If you’re having a tough time deciding which class to choose from (we feel your pain on this one), don’t fret, because you can opt for a Sachie’s Kitchen Asian Passport. One of these bad boys is a ticket for you to attend four classes from four different countries. Quadruple yums!

Milly’s Kitchen

Take your domestic God(ess) skills to the next level by popping in to a class or two at Milly’s. With plenty of one-off specialty cooking classes happening year-round, you’ll be able to learn anything and everything worth knowing in the kitchen. You’ll be able to learn how to whip up your very own pasta and macarons from scratch. Oh, and did we mention there’s even a whole class dedicated to creating a unicorn cake?!

NZ School of Food and Wine

There’s no doubting that the best foods are all part of the ‘C’ club: carbs, chocolate and charcuterie. Lucky for us, the folks at New Zealand School of Food and Wine have answered our foodie prayers and have a stellar range of short cooking classes covering errrrthing from DIY bread and pasta dough to curing your very own meats. Those with a sweet tooth will be happy to know there’s also a course dedicated to our all time fave ingredient… chocolate!

Little Bird Organics

Living in Auckland, chances are that more than 50% of your friends are on the vege-vegan-paleo-raw-sugar-free-gluten-free-dairy-free-vegetarian buzz. So when it comes to keeping them all happy and well-fed, things can get a little bit tricky. That’s where Little Bird Organics come in. Their UnCooking School puts on semi-regular classes to teach you how to whip up all kinds of raw feeds. Not only will you be able to cook yummaay guilt-free food, but it can be enjoyed by all!

Auckland Seafood School

Let’s be real, you can’t call yourself a true Kiwi if you can’t cook on the ‘barbie. Not to worry if you can’t though, because Auckland Seafood School has you covered with their Beers, Bubbles & BBQ Workshop. Not only can you learn how to grill a mean tuna steak here, you can also learn how to cook other yummy fishy dishies like chowder, salmon eggs benedict and surf n’ turf to name a few.
