We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, is there anything tastier than food that’s been cooked underground? Nay you say! Well what are you waiting for—here’s your chance to get some good Māori kai into your day as Britomart’s Takutai Square lawn is dug up and a hāngi laid down complete with soil, fire, hot rocks and baskets of kai. You’ll be in good hands with Hāngi master Rewi Spraggon (The Maori Kitchen) will be at the helm.
Expect hāngi wraps, pies, delicious lunchboxes and more all served up with free live lunchtime performances by up-and-coming musicians including Hannah Teipo, Jhasmyne, Tipene, MGN and Valance Smith.
But wait, there’s more—on Friday 27th from 6pm there’s a free concert featuring Dennis Marsh, The Koi Boys, Rob Ruha and Troy Kingi. Get down to Britomart today and celebrate Matariki in style, we’ll see you there.
