They’ve made a name for themselves as the go-to guys for nutrient-loaded, no nonsense takeaway food, and now, Bird On A Wire have just spread their wings and moved to Ponsonby Central.
Since launching their flagship Ponsonby Road store in 2012, the Bird On A Wire crew have been dishing up free-range, rotisserie chicken alongside fresh, seasonal salads, sammies, burgers, and feeds for one, two or the whole family. Come 2013, Box Of Bird pop-up had launched on Commerce Street and by 2015, Takapuna wanted a piece of the chook goodness and so a third hub was opened.
A serious size upgrade from their old Ponsonby Road home, Bird On A Wire’s new Ponsonby Central digs is offering the Early Bird Breakfast menu from their Takapuna store. Start your day with a box of chilli salt rolled eggs, avo, spinach, dip of the moment and toast, or take the sweeter route with house made muesli and stewed fruit. For those super pressed for time, the fried free range egg bap is a delicious brekky on the go. Fresh juices and sweet treats (bliss balls and ginger crunch!) occupy the cabient and will come in handy during those 3pm slumps.
Unlike before, there is plenty of space to sit down and enjoy a Bird On A Wire meal, taking it from a takeaway spot to a full-fledged restaurant. There’s also wine and craft beer available to enjoy with your meals and enough room for 75 bird-loving peeps—welcomed changes for when winter comes along and you’d rather slurp your soup inside. Bird On A Wire is Ponsonby Central’s newest family member, so pop in, say congrats to the team, and stay for a Korean BBQ Chicken Roll while you’re at it.
