It’s no secret that us Kiwis are rather partial to our beer. Cracking a cold one while soaking up the summer sun, washing down a BBQ saussie-bun-n’sauce or celebrating an AB win—we Kiwis practically find any excuse to crack open a beersie or two. In fact, it’s safe to say the stuff pretty much runs through our veins.
So when we found out that Auckland’s International Beer Day was a legit thing and not a dream we were, quite literally, frothing. Yep, that’s right, a whoooole day dedicated to our fave refreshingly frothy bevvie. We’re amped to say the least.
Not only is it an awesome day dedicated to our favourite golden drop, it’s also the start of a whole weeks’ worth of beer-soaked fun and festivities. The starting event of “The Road To Beervana,” series, International Beer Day is just the tip of the iceberg. It all leads up to the big sh’bang event, Beervana on the 11th and 12th of Aug—and it’s gonna be every bit as good as it sounds.
Prepare to get your bar-hopping game on, as International Beer Day will see you sipping, slurping (and maybe stumbling) your way around Auckland’s best beer bars. Participating bars will be putting on their own beer-infused extravaganzas and will be serving up sneak peeks of what might come later in the week at Beervana.
With Funk Estate and Fine Wine Delivery Co matching brews to tasty beef dishes, Lovebucket looking at edgy bevvies like sour beer and natural wines and Hallertau mixing up beer cocktails (yes you read that right!)—it’s safe to say our tastebuds and tummies are in for quite the treat.
It’s one way to wrap up the week with a casual beer but at International Beer Day, your after work tipple promises to be something else. Make sure to check the line up and participating bars and nab your tickets quick—because no one deserves to miss out on this!
