A Magical Light Installation Is Coming To Auckland!

Aucklanders, our city is about to get a whole lot more artsy, glitzy and downright awesome all at once! Grab your sunnies, because Auckland is turning the brightness up high.

Making its way over to New Zealand from 3-21 August is the sparkly, and downright majestic phenomenon that is Waterlight Graffiti. After lighting up the world and thousands of punters’ faces in cities from Vegas to Abu-Dhabi, this interactive art project is setting up shop in our back yard: Aotea Square!

In case you're wondering what exactly the dealio is with Waterlight Graffiti (or if you’ve been living under a rock), let us give you the official lowdown: The instillation consists of a magical canvas (a gigantanourmous screen made up of hundreds and thousands of LED lights) that lights up when it comes in to contact with water. We know, epic huh?

Now this this, dear Aucklanders, is where you come in: you get to play artist! Yess-iree! You’ll be spraying, brushing, flicking, flinging and spritzing water all over the screens like the true artistes you are and watching the screens react and bring your oeuvres and doodles to life.

Smack-bang in the middle of the city, this is your chance to share your talents and doodles, spread a message or publicly declare your love for your significant other in all it’s glittering glory front of the whole world (or, whole of Auckland!)

If you just can’t get enough of the installation then make sure to join creator, Frenchman Antoine Fourneau, at one of his talks happening around town. Here you'll be able to enter the mind of he who thought up this amazing creation, pick his brain and get thoroughly enlightened (pun totally intended).

On for a limited time in the month of August, don’t dilly-dally in getting down to Aotea Square for this totally FREE event to, quite literally, light up the world with your artistic talent.
