Break out of the house and go hardcore this weekend with hardcore eating, hardcore tattoos and hardcore yoga. We’ve got a whole bunch of hardcore (well, some less than others) things to do in Sydney this weekend, so there’s no excuse to be bored. Okay weekend, let’s go!
Taste of Sydney
Taste of Sydney is an unmissable foodie day out and an event we, at The Urban List, countdown the days to. The four day festival in Centennial Park is a celebration of Sydney’s unique and progressive dining scene, showcasing Sydney’s best restaurants who will each feature three to four signature dishes in ‘taste’ sized portions, which essentially allows you to create your dream tasting menu. Cue swooning. Sydney restaurants involved include 4Fourteen, Café Paci, Biota Dining and MoVida, as well as a bunch of others, with different stages and sponsors offering various discussions and demonstrations. Taste of Sydney will be the hottest foodie ticket in town this weekend – so make sure you get yours!
The Australian Tattoo and Body Art Expo
For the seventh year running, The Australian Tattoo and Body Art Expo will be taking over the Royal Hall of Industries in Moore Park this weekend. You’ll find an incredible range of international and local artists, attractive retail vendors, exciting entertainers and special guests. There will be a fun, vintage-style, Pin-up Pageant for any ladies who consider themselves a looker, as well as plenty of artist showcases and apparel stores to spend the day browsing through.
Party in the Park
For things to do in Sydney this weekend that involve a bit of music and dancing, head to Party In The Park at North Sydney Oval. Starting from 5pm, gather your friends and fight for your spot on the grass before the music kicks in. The Cat Empire, The Jezabels, Husky, Little May and Sons Of The Easy will all be performing and tickets are selling like hotcakes, so get in quick!
Coogee Foreshore Festival
Coogee Pavilion’s ground floor will be transformed into a marketplace for the whole family to enjoy as part of the Coogee Foreshore Festival with face painting, magicians and pop-ups from a variety of Merivale restaurants. Spilling onto the promenade, a Deus surfboard-shaping stand will sit alongside sushi e, El Loco, Papi Chulo and the infamous Mr Wong dim sum. It’s sure to be a deliciously fun day in the sun, so get online and book your tickets ASAP!
The Brewery Yard Markets
This centrally located market in Central Park is quickly becoming the coolest market in Sydney. On the first and third Sunday of every month, handpicked stallholders sell the best produce, fashion, flora, services, wares and products going around. Being in the heart of Chippendale’s burgeoning scene, there is plenty of entertainment, live art demonstrations and exciting performances to ogle at while you shop. Go have a browse, de-brief about the night before and just chill out.
10 Day Transformation at Icebergs
The purpose of Kundalini Yoga is transformation, and Kimilla has teamed up with Icebergs to have you well on your way to radical transformation. The program consists of ten morning yoga classes to get the Kundalini exploding, with each class including yoga exercises, breath work, meditation, mantra and relaxation. A gourmet breakfast box and fresh juice is included after each session, which will have your body, mind and spirit feeling activated and give you plenty of excuses to boast to all your fitness loving friends.
Firefly Festival of Guilty Pleasures
This inaugural Firefly Festival of Guilty Pleasures will be a week where the Firefly menu will feature a delightful array of decadent dishes, as created by guest’s requests throughout the year. French fries slathered in truffle oil, parmesan, aged cheddar, double bacon and aioli? Sure thing. Triple-decker-double-choc-cookie-caramel gelato stack? Why not? If you have a decadent concoction sure to burst the buttons on your jeans, submit your ideas to Firefly. Not only will it potentially be featured on the menu all week long, the three best entries will each win a chocolate making course and a $150 bar tab at Firefly. So start ogling at #foodporn and get inspired.
