Praise the sweet streaming lords, our obsession with cult creeper You is about to be renewed with Netflix releasing all the deets on season two… and yes we finally have a premiere date.
In case you’ve been living under a rock and missed all the hype about season one, in short it followed bookstore worker Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) and his obsessive crush on customer Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail). After manipulating her into becoming his girlfriend and committing a slew of murders along the way, season one ended on a cliff-hanger. And we’ve been waiting a whole year to find out what Goldberg does next.
Thankfully the wait is finally (nearly) over, with Netflix announcing it will drop season two of You on 26 December aka Boxing Day—which is perfect given you’ll already be coma-style on the couch with a belly full of glazed ham and BBQ prawns.
So, what can we expect from the latest instalment? We know that season two is based on author Caroline Kepnes’ second novel Hidden Bodies. We can also expect newbies to the cast, including Victoria Pedretti (The Haunting of Hill House, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood), set to play Love Quinn, a produce manager and aspiring chef; James Scully (Heathers) who will Love’s brother Forty, a man working his way through a 12-step addiction program and Jenna Ortega (Jane the Virgin) as teenager Ellie, an ingenious con artist whose tricks and schemes fool the adults in her life.
Yep, season two is going to be a doozy, prepare for fresh faces, fresh drama and let’s honest a whole bunch of creepy as hell moments.
Mark your calendars, the countdown is officially on.
Until then, get your freak on with these epic horror flicks.
