The Best Barangaroo Restaurants With A View

Rekōdo

Barangaroo House, Level 1/35 Barangaroo Avenue, Barangaroo

Rekōdo is a vibey Japanese restaurant and vinyl bar in the striking Barangaroo House, with a large balcony overlooking Darling Harbour, boasting water views. Doused in neon lights, it's inspired by Tokyo-style listening rooms with vinyl decks backgrounding a fun and energetic menu.

We love the grilled scallops with kombu butter, Wagyu skewers, and crispy pork belly baos, and always browse the cocktail menu; the Mandarin Spumoni with Kunizakari mandarin liqueur, Aperol, and mandarin soda is a perfect Japanese twist on the classic.

Insider Intel
  • The Short Play and Long Play set menus are ideal for indecisive diners, and they can both be made vegan.
  • Rekōdo's incredible catalogue of vinyl records spins regularly, with hip-hop hits on Thursdays, resident DJ takeovers on Fridays, and disco beats on Saturdays.
  • We recommend heading upstairs to Smoke Bar for a pre- or post-dinner drink—bringing a first date here basically guarantees a follow-up text.

Oncore By Clare Smyth

Crown Sydney, Level 26/1 Barangaroo Avenue, Barangaroo

best Barangaroo Restaurants Oncore by Clare Smyth

Boasting one of the best views from any restaurant in town, Oncore by Clare Smyth is a bucket list gastronomic experience on level 26 of Crown Sydney. It's where acclaimed chef Clare Smyth has brought her world-renowned flavours from Core, her three-Michelin-Star London restaurant, to Barangaroo.

The menu straddles simplicity and sophistication, embodied by the now-famous Potato and Roe Dish: a slow-cooked potato topped with smoked trout and herring roe, served with seaweed beurre blanc that always stars on the $395pp Classic menu. According to Smyth, "having lived and travelled in Australia early on in my career, it feels like a home away from home". Her Aussie influence certainly shines throughout the menu—we'll let the Sydney Rockefeller oysters speak for themselves.

Seeking a fine dining experience without the price tag? We think the bar at Oncore by Clare Smyth has to be one of the best dining hacks in Sydney. You can order snacks a la carte, including the famous Core Fried Chicken with optional caviar, or enjoy a $140pp mini version of the tasting menu that's a little more relaxed than the main dining room, but with the same stunning views.

Insider Intel
  • Set menus start at $370pp.
  • Doing Dry July, or just off the booze? Oncore's non-alcoholic offering is particularly strong.

Score a spot at Love.fish and settle in for a sustainably sourced local seafood feast that won't break the bank, paired with a sparkling water view. Their Rozelle restaurant is already an institution (at least in this household), forming a reputation as "the fish bar with a green heart". Their mission is to minimise food and oil waste, and to source sustainable ingredients—so eating here is making a conscious decision to help the environment. Score.

As the name suggests, this Barangaroo restaurant is all about seafood, serving raw and cured bites, old-school prawn cocktails, grilled fillets with tasty sides and all the fish and chip shop classics. There's also a sizeable cocktail list, making this a primo choice for a Sunday lunch with water views.

Insider Intel
  • Dining with someone who doesn't love fish and seafood? Don't worry—Love.fish has plenty of veggie- and land-based eats on the menu too.
  • We love their commitment to Aussie produce; most of the bar's spirits, wines, beers and soft drinks are made in Australia too.

The Best Barangaroo Restaurants For Lunch

Lotus Barangaroo

8/9 Wulugul Walk, Barangaroo

lotus barangaroo one of the best restaurants for a long lunch in sydney
Image credit: Lotus Barangaroo | Website

Long lunching never looked better with delicious dishes blending Asian culinary traditions and creative cocktails in the mostly outdoor, breezy setting of Lotus Barangaroo. Owner Michael Jiang opened the original Lotus location with the intention to "bridge eastern and western cultures through food"—seven Sydney restaurants later, we reckon he's done it.

Local produce is pulled together with dishes like wok-fried pipis; lobster, scallop, prawn and squid ink dumplings; masterstock crispy pork with Thai chilli caramel, apple and mint; and grilled beef short ribs with sweet soy sauce, sambal mattah, chilli, crispy leek and kaffir lime.

Insider intel
  • Can't decide? We recommend leaving it up to the experts with a banquet menu, ranging between $69pp and $109pp.
  • Seasoning is no joke here; they even have a curated herb garden designed by horticulture specialists.

Callao is a Barangaroo restaurant serving incredible Nikkei cuisine—the Japanese diaspora of Peru. Flame-licked dishes are delivered from a custom-built parrilla grill, searing seafood, vegetables, and Australian and Japanese beef to perfection.

The contemporary space pays homage to Peru's rainbow mountain, Vinicunca, and is splashed with raw, textured materials, making for a stunning background to long lunches. Head chef Jihwan Choi says, “We have paid homage to Nikkei throughout the Callao menu, with Peruvian spices, herbs, and sauces combined with traditional Japanese dishes, like our scampi tartare served on crispy rice with avocado, pickled jalapeno and Siberian caviar”.

The Nikkei blend continues to the cocktail list, which blends Latin booze with Asian flavours, with the drinks offering rounded out by a substantial saké and Japanese whisky list, and an approachable selection of wine selected with consideration to the menu’s unique flavour profiles.

Barangaroo goes to Barcelona at Bórn by Tapavino, a Spanish restaurant set right in front of the Barangaroo ferry wharf. The third venue from the Tapavino group, Bórn, takes inspiration from the tapas bars and restaurants in and around El Born, in Barcelona. To take a leaf out of their ethos, it "begins with Spanish wine as a drink to accompany the food we serve, and we believe that our food as a whole should be uncomplicated, relying on quality produce that is simply prepared."

Work your way through jamón, croquetas, empanadas, Galician-style octopus, garlic prawns, imported cheeses—and classic desserts like crema Catalana.

  • Groups of three or more can tuck into a set menu from $82pp, or go all in on the weekend bottomless lunch for $105pp, which includes a 90-minute drinks package with wines and beer.

When Golden Century's OG Haymarket restaurant closed in 2021 after 30 years of warm hospitality and late-night Chinese bites, Sydney's food scene was left devo.

Fortunately, Billy Wong and his parents, Eric and Linda, revived the staple with the glitzy Golden Century at Crown Sydney, opening in 2025—welcoming a new era of all of our old favourite dishes, including XO pipis, stir-fried noodles, barbecue meats, and live seafood like lobster and mud crab, with all the classic preparations. Billy Wong, co-owner of Golden Century, said of the opening: “We feel that we have a great synergy with Crown’s approach to hospitality, focusing on quality and the guest experience, making them feel welcome and at home."

The much-loved yum cha also made a major comeback, offering over 80 traditional Cantonese-style dishes, including xiao long bao, BBQ pork puffs, pan- and deep-fried dim sum, and lava custard buns, available between 11am and 5pm daily.

Woodcut

Woodcut is a smoke-fragrant, modern Australian restaurant that sprawls towards Darling Harbour from the ground floor of Crown Sydney. Helmed by Ross and Sunny Lusted (formerly of the award-winning Sydney fine-dining staple, The Bridge Room), this Barangaroo gem opened in late 2020 to high expectations—and absolutely exceeded them.

Delivering equal parts romance and culinary theatre, Woodcut ditches the standard entrée-main-dessert routine, instead serving "fire", "steam", "smoke" and "ice" dishes from four buzzing kitchens that are fully on display—making for a full visual feast, especially for those seated at the counter. According to the chef, “With each ingredient we source at Woodcut, I ask, “Where would this produce most flourish? Raw? On the ash grill? In the steam kettles? In the Romertopf? In the wood oven? On the wood grill?” It’s all about finding the best way to express the ingredient.”

Standouts from the entire menu include pipis with vadouvan spices, roasted chickpeas and curry leaves; veal tongue skewers with caper sauce and nasturtium off the ash grill; steaks from the wood-fired grill; and the burnt butter crisp pastry with Catalan cream and persimmon.

Insider Intel
  • Woodcut has a dedicated space for drinks called Hickory Bar. It offers a $30 express lunch (including a drink) Tuesday–Friday, and is perfect for a nightcap and snack.
  • They recently won Australia's Best Hotel Wine List Award—their list showcases iconic wines and historical houses balanced with the unknown and upcoming game changers.

Costi's Fish And Chips

200 Barangaroo Avenue, Barangaroo

a spread of mixes seafood from costi's fish and chips
Image credit: Costi's Fish and Chips | Instagram

A contender for the best fish and chips in all of Sydney, Costi's Fish and Chips is a low-key and affordable Barangaroo restaurant ticking the important boxes: fast, fresh and delicious. There are limited dine-in tables inside and outside, so we recommend grabbing a to-go box and enjoying dinner with a Darling Harbour view.

As well as their classic fish shop picks that come crumbed, battered and deep-fried, Costi's is dishing up grilled fish, Thai-style calamari or Greek-style octopus served with salad and brown rice, or poké bowls packed with sashimi salmon and steamed tiger prawns or yellowfin tuna and wasabi peas. Their ethos is simple: “All our seafood is bought, cut and cooked on the same day, as freshness is imperative to us". You can't go wrong with that.

Insider Intel
  • On a summer's day, we like to take our fish and chips and set up a picnic at Marrinawi Cove, before taking a dip
  • Don't get caught out on the weekend; because this spot caters to local workers, it's only open Monday–Friday.
