Whilst legendary across Sydney’s inner-west, Pasticceria Papa is known for being one of Sydney's best cake shops and is now bringing its delicious sweet treats to the people of Bondi. The Hunter Works, located on Darling Street, is joining the ranks of Balmain’s best cafes. With a shaded courtyard and excellent coffee this cute cafe is the perfect spot to while away the afternoon. Without a fully functioning kitchen, they still offer up a range of tasty meals such as smashed avo with caper mayonnaise, and boar and fig salad with goat’s curd.

The culinary gurus from one of Sydney's best Thai restaurants, Longrain, have struck gold with their newly opened restaurant, Subcontinental. Taking up residence in the space previously housing Shortgrain and Bunker Bar, the menu will offer up tasty morsels from India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, hence the all encompassing name, Subcontinental. But, as is typical of head chef Victor Chung’s style, the menu will see traditional dishes given a lighter, healthier edge.

The Macquarie Street outpost by the talented team at Fratelli Fresh (the makers of some of Sydney's best Italian), lies in the heart of the CBD. Fratelli Parlamento (nestled directly opposite State Parliament) features a pizzeria, open kitchen and aperitivo bar, and is dishing up its signature Italian cuisine as well as rotating specials. Joining Enmore’s vibrant food scene is meatball masters, Ballers Polpetteria. This casual eatery prides itself on fresh, homely meals, where you can mix and match to your meatball liking. The first Australian outpost of Korea’s Azoto has opened its doors in World Square much to the delight of Sydney sweet tooths. Here, the specialty is liquid nitrogen ice cream, with quirky twists on the classics. The short and sweet menu will change with the seasons, but you can expect combinations like Bounty & Co (coconut injected with dark chocolate), Caramel Duet (caramel ice cream with salted caramel popcorn) or Nippon Green (green tea matcha with mocha). Best part? This Sydney dessert spot open till the wee hours of the morning for you to get your dessert fix.

Arisun Express

Fans of Korean fried chicken rejoice! Arisun, aka one of Sydney's best Korean restaurants, has opened a brand new outpost at World Square, replete with a 60-seat dining space and takeaway counter serving cups of popcorn-style chicken. Focusing on Seoul street food, other specialties include pan-fried pork dumplings, Korean-style meatballs and spicy pork belly. We can’t resist washing it down with a tower of beer or Hite served frozen.

As the name suggests, this Surry Hills Korean-fusion restaurant unsurprisingly has a focus on chicken. From “damn good” Korean fried chicken to steamed buns to a burger, you can get your chicken fix at Chicken Institute. However, if you want to venture beyond the bird, the grilled BBQ meats wrapped in lettuce leaves are top notch as is the kimchi poutine.

The brainchild of Joel Best (previously of Pier and Fish Face), Bondi’s Best serves up some of Sydney's best seafood cooked to delicious perfection, or prepared raw by sushi chef, Hirofumi Fujita. With restaurants at North Bondi and Hall Street, Bondi foodies are well catered for with specialties like salt and pepper cuttlefish, Ibiza-prawn tempura roll and assorted sashimi. A go-to amongst Sydney’s sweet tooths, Le Bretagne Patisserie is renowned for its selection of cakes, pastries, fine chocolates and incredible breads. Nestled in the picturesque Plumer Village in Rose Bay, this Sydney patisserie has become an institution for dessert lovers. From the folk that brought us Pizza Mario comes Da Mario, one of our favourite pizzerias in Sydney. Headed up by chef Franco Bortignon, the menu featured a selection of entrees, salads and mains, as well as pastas, calzones and of course, its famed Naples-style hand-made pizza. You can’t go past the salame calzone, loaded with ricotta, buffalo mozzarella, salame, black pepper and tomato, or the Marinara Con Tonno topped with preserved tuna and Spanish onion. This loud, bustling restaurant is frequently packed to the brim, which is no wonder as it’s serving up some of the best pizzas in Sydney!

What’s that? A brand new Newtown café for us to sink our teeth into? Excuse us while we sprint down there and reward ourselves with a big cup of coffee and an even bigger sandwich. The younger, larger, but just as fun sister of one of Sydney’s best restaurants, China Doll, set up shop on Hall Street in Bondi Beach in early 2014 and has done an epic job of satisfying the stomachs of Bondi locals as well as general people that enjoy eating and drinking (i.e. us).

Originally from Bellingen, the gelato geniuses have opened a second store in Rozelle and Sydney Gelato lovers are rejoicing! They also offer limited edition and seasonal flavours, which keep the punters coming back for more.

QT likes to remind everyone that it isn’t your average hotel, and in fact, the entry into Gowings Bar & Grill is an experience in itself. Step inside the lift that recalibrates its elevator music in relation to how many people are riding (for example lonesome, romantic or party tunes), then getting ready for all sorts of deliciousness. Restaurant consultant and food director, Robert Marchetti, has created a mouthwatering menu that is guaranteed to please Sydney’s food lovers. Now Harry’s is switching up it’s menu for the first time since it’s transformation to offer a more healthy menu, and in true Bondi style many meals will be without gluten, dairy and refined sugar!

Bang Street Food has opened its doors on Crown Street serving up a delicious selection of Bangladesh-inspired cuisine. Headed up by Nicholas Gurney (of Farmhouse fame), the menu features a selection of share plates with highlights including the honey-roasted paneer, Wagyu tri tip curry and duck egg omelette with blue swimmer crab. Finish with the rum drunk doughnuts with caramelized peaches and wash it all down with a pick from their wine list, which by the way is entirely Portugese.
