After lugging their adorable gelato carts around the market scene to great success, Chicho Gelato opened up their first ever shopfront and has since become a Northbridge institution. Having studied at gelato university in Italy, the cold creamy stuff made by owners Carly and Cesare De Bartolo is the shiz-nit. It’s the kind of gelato that actually tastes the way it sounds, made with nothing artificial and only the best ingredients.

Tom, Dick & Harry’s

Solid no-nonsense breakfast and great coffee is what’s on offer at Tom, Dick & Harry’s in Mount Hawthorn. Plus they do all day breakfast so you can sleep as long as you like, because you can get eggs on toast, muesli or pancakes at whatever damn time you like. The crew here will also welcome your pooch with open arms so bring them along and grab a table in the garden outside.

Pachamama

Step into the blissful rainforest style cafe which is Pachamama in Scarborough. Serving up the most colourful, delicious and nutritious food, they have more rainbow salads and raw treats than you can count. We love their granola bowl with mango, cacao, cashew yoghurt and choice of milk. Plus they serve some awesome sounding smoothies which you can top and turn into a bowl! All their produce is organic, locally sourced, seasonal and refined sugar free.

Modus

Two mates who love coffee and hospitality want to share their favourite things with us, so that’s how Modus in Mount Lawley was born.  These guys are dishing up amazing brekky burgers, Reuben sambos, delicious chai and of course some top notch coffee.The interior is seriously funky and there's outdoor seating so you can enjoy the sunshine while you take a shopping break.

Duck Duck Bruce

Duck Duck Bruce in Fremantle has won us over with the names of their menu items alone. The Rhubarbra Streisand breakfast (stewed rhubarb, strawberries, maple and almond granola with pomegranate and cardamom coconut whip) is enough to make us want to move in. The Auber Jean Is Not My Lover is also a winner with crispy fennel, potato straws, spinach, almonds, Goan eggplant achadi, roti, coconut sambal, eggs, pickled chilli and cumin raita.

Quills

When we heard about Wattle Grove restaurant, Quills, we were keen to get down there to try it out quick smart. With a head chef of Deco and Northbridge Brewing Company fame and a sous chef who’s done time at The Garden, this eatery in the Perth foothills does not disappoint. The menu features delicious bites like duck liver parfait, roast confit pork belly, pan roasted salmon and chocolate mousse. Get down there and check it out for yourself!

Someday Coffee Co.

Someday Coffee Co is a beautiful suburban cafe in Floreat and the friendly team here are brewing some seriously smooth coffee. They're also dishing out amazing breakfasts like pimped up toast, delish granola and Mexican beans that are to die for. If you're after something sweet, grab yourself one of the Mary Street Bakery doughnuts or for something slightly healthier, opt for a Kommunity Brew Kombucha or a Pressed Earth juice. Floreat residents, we've found your new local!

West Leederville cafe, Aliment, is the perfect place to go for a morning recharge. It's home to delicious treats like brownie filled pancakes, four cheese toasties and salted caramel doughnuts, as well as plenty of healthier delights. The dark interier with splashes of colour give this space a warm and homey feel. We reckon it might just become one of your fave hangouts.

Jersey Jack Gelato

Jersey Jack Gelato in South Perth sure knows how to create dessert porn. Home to Perth’s first doughnut cone, they source the freshest ingredients to put in their gelato and we wouldn't have it any other way. While the doughnut cone is no longer, its place has been taken by The Little Mostro—a massive waffle cone jam-packed with three scoops of ice cream and topped with two mini waffle cones.

Ladle + Press

Ladle + Press in Hillarys is all about going back to basics, but don't get us wrong—these guys are anything but boring. Their brekky bowls, soups, casseroles, curries and risottos are all made from scratch with fresh ingredients and are all available to take away so you can enjoy them on the run. The team here also serve up seriously good single origin brews which you can enjoy with the creamiest almond milk around or fresh cows milk. They brew their own kombucha on site and press their own juices, using the leftover juice pulp in their sweet and savoury bread loafs. Is there anything these guys can't do?

If you're looking for a beautiful yoga studio then look no further, Sage Yoga in Como is about as zen as they get. They offer a range of classes and also run a monthly Sage Lab where you can delve a bit deeper into specific practices. But our favourite part might just the yoga retreats they run in Ubud and Margaret River.

Maylands cafe Mrs S has a little sister in Highgate with the same calibre of food and tastiness, plus a few extra smatterings of awesome thrown in. Thankfully plenty of the Mrs S classics (The manwich! The panacotta!) are still available, but there's also an expanded menu with around 20 dishes for foodies to get stuck into.

Perth Japanese restaurant, Tsunami Ko is hidden behind an inconspicuous door, alongside the well-known and equally delicious Tsunami Izakaya. This tiny, 16-seat teppanyaki restaurant that the Mosman Park locals have been keeping hush about is where food and theatrics come together. With more than 50 varieties of sake and Japanese whisky on offer, Tsunami Ko is perfect for date nights or fanciful birthday celebrations with friends. Our advice: pimp your rice with wagyu!

While a lot of seafood joints tend to focus on deep fried fare, the guys at Starfish Caf in Mount Lawley have an incredible grilled selection, some drool-worthy burgers and an epic range of salads, providing a well-balanced spin on the usual fish ‘n’ chip scenario. But never fear, if you're craving some squid rings and a big hunk of fried fish, Starfish won't disappoint. They've got a little bit of errythang!

If you're looking to burn up to 1000 calories in a single workout, F45 in Northbridge is for you. F45 run high-intensity, functional interval training that’s team based and completed in 45 minutes. Coupled with a healthy diet, F45 is one of the fastest ways to tone up and get fit—it’s no easy feat but it’s not as scary as everyone makes out. There are 27 different modules (workouts) which are either resistance or cardio based, meaning you get a whole lot of variety in your workouts, leaving your muscles guessing each time you rock up to class. Nice!

If the true essence of Italian is to do amazing things to simple ingredients, Wembley restaurant Monsterella is most certainly nailing it. Sitting pretty on the corner of Grantham and Jersey Streets in Wembley, Monstarella oozes rustic cool with its simple, stylish and classy interior. Pizza is the name of the game here, with handmade bases which are naturally risen for eight hours and 17 flavour combos to choose from. There are also a few pastas, antipasti and salad options on the menu—don't miss the arrosticini abruzzesse (traditional lamb skewers from the Abruzzo region in Italy), they're to die for!

Hippocampus has been hanging out in West Perth distilling their ahhh-mazing vodka and gin for a while, but luckily for the good people of Perth, they decided to use some of that extra space as a bar where you can go and taste said vodka and gin, sip on a cocktail or two, or enjoy a glass of wine.

Kuld Creamery

Using pure WA cream, organic milk and local free-range eggs, Kuld Creamery is scooping some delicious and unique flavours. Think matcha fresh mint chip, peach cobbler, Nutella and Maltesers, chai and even the sweet beet cone topped with chunks of fudgy beetroot brownie. The decor is seriously cool and flavours change weekly so you have a good excuse to pop in regularly.

The legends at Grounded Days in Swanbourne have been grinding hard (pun intended) to create an awesome gift store filled with goodies from local designers and suppliers. They are serving up awesome coffee and some of our fave eats from around Perth including Nudie Foodies raw treats, Delish icy poles and the famous Honeycake. You can also pick up gorgeous candles, succulents, pillows and more. So many excuses to pop by.

Becalmed Float

Next time you're in need of a little zen time, head to Becalmed Float in North Beach for a float. Jump into one of their floatation tanks which are filled with 500kg of Epsom salts dissolved in 1000L of water so that you float and feel totally weightless. Once the pod is closed you can turn off the lights so it's pitch black, completely quiet and distraction free. While it sounds kind of scary, owners Jo and Aaron will make you feel at ease before your first float and once your hour is up you'll be totally addicted. Not only is it a great form of meditation, it also helps with stress relief, insomnia, muscle healing, pain management and lots more!

We love Asian food and tapas so when we heard Miss Potz were combining the two we were freakin’ excited! Created by the head chef of Mr Munchies the menu features goodies like rendang sliders, sticky chicken wings, soft-shell crab papaya salad and tom yum mussels. Miss Potz is open for lunch Friday to Sunday and dinner Tuesday to Sunday—don’t forget to bring a bottle of wine, this bad boy is BYO!

This place is an interesting take on a traditional Dutch cafe. The crew here have got you covered when it comes to light yet creamy coffee and your usual avo smash on a sunday morning, but what really grabbed our attention was their nitro infused cold brew on tap, freshly made appleflaps and cold pressed juices. The simple, yet comforable interior will make you feel like you're ducking into a friend's house for a quick cuppa.

Light and bright Como cafe Little Matcha Girl celebrates all that is sweet and green. Serving perfect little cakes and patisserie delights as well as Blacklist Coffee Roasters brew, matcha lattes and a bunch of other Japanese teas. When they’re not creating the perfect cup of joe on their beautiful Kees Van Der Westen Mirage coffee machine, Little Matcha Girl are stocking up on loose leaf teas and ceremony and culinary matcha which you can take away with you to create your own matcha masterpiece.

This little cafe in Leederville is like a breath of fresh air—concrete floors and wooden interiors with a hint of industrial is just the right combo. The menu at Oxford Yard has just the right balance of brekky and lunch options, plus they're open on Friday nights for dinner as well! The big brekky and porridge are eternal faves, but it's the $5 eggs on toast every weekday from 7 to 10am that get us every time!

A cafe run by cyclists, for cylists, Workshop Cafe is one of the raddest places in Perth. Pedal in for a quick fix of coffee and maybe even a spot of breakfast if you're feeling hangry. With a simple and delicious breakfast menu, Wembley locals love the Ingredient Tree on Herdsman Parade. They’ve got muesli, toast, croissants, pancakes and eggs any way you like them, as well as a tasty breakfast bagel and yummy quinoa patties with poachies. The coffee is by Genovese and they also serve freshly brewed chai, a very luscious Belgian hot chocolate (in white, milk or dark), Teadrop teas and smoothies by Charlies. And it’s not called the ingredient tree for nothing—you can pick up all sorts of gourmet goodness here including nougat, chocolate, conserves, specialty sauces and more.

If carb-loaded brekkies are your bag, head to Lawley’s Bakery Cafe in Wembley. We go bananas for their French toast made with white pagnotta bread and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, as well as their dense fruit toast. Pancakes fans, fear not, you can get your fix of light, fluffy goodness here too—there’s even Nutella filled pancakes! If you’ve only got time for a quick breakfast, grab one of Lawley’s buttery, delicious pastries and a coffee to go.
