Jumbo Thai
Taking over the floor above the long-standing Embassy Hotel, Jumbo Thai is completely unlike every suburban Thai restaurant you’ve ever been to. Gotcha Fresh Tea
Just like a single origin coffee or a bottle of French wine from a specific vineyard, Gotcha Fresh Tea believes tea should be farmed from a single location for consistancy and quality. Differentiating themselves from other bubble tea spots, Gotcha Tea farms their very own tea in Taiwan, which is then freshly brewed and made for each individual order. Featuring an abundance of flavours from basic black tea all the way up to Gotcha’s take on cheese tea—a cold tea concoction topped with a thick layer of salted cheese cream—Gotcha Fresh Tea is sure to satisfy every sweet tooth, no matter how adventurous.

Though Alyssa says she never meant to start a hospitality empire, she’s well on her way, and Phat Boy is shaping up to be the hottest venue of the lot.
Yolk
There’s really nothing better than a good bacon and egg roll—a soft bun (but not too soft), massive stack of bacon and a gooey egg loaded up with plenty of sauce. And that’s exactly what you’ll find on the menu at Newstead hole-in-the-wall spot, Yolk. That’s not completely all—obviously you’ll need a crisp hashbrown to go with that breakfast roll, as well as a smooth coffee. But the roll really is the star of the show here.

Kimchi Cheese Smile
It might only be small, but this cosy East Brisbane restaurant packs a big punch in both flavour and character. Locals on the east side of Brisbane can finally start to understand the inner city's obsession with salad with the news that cult salad bar Botanica has opened its third location over in Camp Hill. After the immense popularity of both the Red Hill and Newstead locations it’s high time east siders got a taste of their impressive salads, and it probably won't be long before they're as addicted to kale as the rest of us.

Baja
Joining the new FV by Peppers precinct at the very northern end of Brunswick Street, this hip new Mexican restaurant is sleek and understated—there’s not a hint of Day of the Dead theming here (though you will spot very real cactuses lining the window). Joy Restaurant
Occupying the space in Bakery Lane left by I Heart Brownies, this latest in schmick eateries is brought to us by Tim and Sarah Scott. After a career in hospitality that includes stints at premier Sydney establishments like Sepia, Sixpenny and the much-decorated Automata, a natural progression for the couple was to take on running a restaurant of their own.
Forester’s Restaurant & Bar

Perch’d
You know a good fish n’ chip restaurant the moment you get out of the car. It should smell like the sea (not like old fish), and the oil should be daffodil gold (not like second-hand Mobil unleaded).
