Twinkle Twinkle little star, point me to the nearest bar. To make your life much easier, and boozier, we’ve been keeping tabs on all the new joints that sprouted up this year and have been giving serious competition to our regular Friday night hit-up list. The bar scene in Perth is certainly growing and thriving, and these new additions are only adding more options for that end of the year month week bar hop with your squad.
Here are the best new Perth bars that you need to know about.
You might know it as The Emerson Bar, but this beautiful, sprawling three-storey pub in the CBD relaunched this year as the fittingly majestic Prince Lane. With a new name, new head chef and new menu, Prince Lane continues the party with a fun spin on pub food, deliciously pretty cocktails and Insta-worthy, plush décor. Book yourself a night in the karaoke suite and order yourself a lamington cocktail and a chicken parmie pizza.
Henry Summer opened just a couple of weeks ago and we're already in love. It's got jungle vibes, one of the best spritzes we've ever tasted, delicious food AND it's dog-friendly. Go and order the crispy dumplings and thank us later.
Market Grounds is the first bar to connect the city and Northbridge in over 100 years but that's not why we love it. No, we love it because of the amazing fit out, the delicious chip butties and all of the cocktails. Do yourself a favour and get your squad here immediately.
It's no secret that everyone in Perth loves a rooftop bar, so you'll want to check out 77 Social ASAP. Sitting pretty on St Georges Terrace, 77 Social offers some sweet views of the terrace, epic coktails and drool-worthy eats.
La Vida Urbana
This Mexican restaurant already had us dreaming about its insane menu (the cheesy loaded nachos in particular), but we’re also here for the insanely delish cocktails. Take a night off beer and head down to La Vida Urbana for some cloudy apple juice with tequila, strong, smoky Negronis or their euphoric fresh margaritas.
There are a couple of reasons why we love Measure Bar. For one, it features Masterchef contestant Karmen Lu’s distinctive flair for whipping up breathtaking desserts, but it also serves up cocktails with a sweeter note. Some of the top contenders being the salted caramel old fashioned, which is a genius mix of Bulleit bourbon, Grand Marnier and salted caramel (we’ll take anything with salted caramel really) and the pavlova, which features a pavlova vodka, strawberry, passionfruit and meringue. Karmen has already proved that she’s a bad-ass dessert queen on Masterchef, but now she’s letting us get drunk on sweet treats as well!
Did you really think we’d make a bar list without including a wine bar? Wine is fuel for pete’s sake. This community focused food and wine bar in Subi, is dedicated towards reducing waste, and offers a sustainable dining experience. New Normal has an impressive wine collection, including sparkling, reds, whites and more importantly, orange reds. With a strong focus on highlighting fresh Aussie produce, we suggest you head there for a low-key night out.
Fromage Artisan is dedicated to two of our main loves: cheese and alcohol. Since there is literally no better way than to have some cheese, get drunk, and have more cheese, head over to this joint with your favourite person, and keep the conversation going over some fine aged cheese, and an elegant selection of paired liquors.
This Mexican bar currently rules the cocktail roost. Home to the infamous lageritas (frozen margheritas topped with a casual bottle of Corona FYI), Caballitos has been giving Perth serious tequila bar #goals. To make things more attractive, they’re happy to offer daily specials like $12 margaritas on Margarita Monday, $5 tacos on Taco Tuesday, happy hours on Friday and siesta sessions on Saturday.
The perfect place to find a little bit of New York in Perth, Peaky Bodega has a delicious selection of NY street eats, and a whole lot of drinks to accompany your PB&J burger. If you are looking to try something different for your Friyays, we suggest you hit up this place for their Soho Spritz or New York Sour. They also have a number of impressive beers for the ultimate chug-off with your groupies.
Last but certainly not the least on our list, Dogtown is the place to grab local brews from the Feral Brewery. While the beer is certainly enough to make your weekend, Dogtown also serves up some amazing pub grub to go with all the beer.
