Who Makes The Best Cheesecake On The Coast?

By Trixie Hillen - 15 May 2016

If there was an Oscars for desserts (ummmm, why isn’t there an Oscars for desserts btw?!) then cheesecake would definitely be the name read out by the A-list presenter.

Baked, unbaked, stuffed into doughnuts, we suggest you chuck the diet out the window and work your way through this list of the best cheesecakes on the Sunshine Coast. Stat!

Every Cheesecake You Can Imagine | Tome

For the ultimate in cheesecake epicness (is that a word? Well it is now!), Tome hits ALL the marks. Our Insta-besties, who make some of the best cakes on the Sunshine Coast, whip up a drool-worthy array of cheesecake-filled delights—peanut butter cheesecake brownies, Oreo cheesecake doughnuts, raspberry and meringue baked cheesecakes. And their coffee is pretty damn special too.

Strawberry Shortcake Cheesecake | Ocean Ended

Who needs cheesecake in cake form? For all those Postmodernists among us, Ocean Ended has taken the perfect cheesecake and deconstructed it. Imagine cheesecake reduced to its absolute purest form—strawberries and cream, crumbled buttery shortcake, light, and slightly tart cheesecake filling. Definitely save some room for this baby!

Vanilla Cheesecake Mousse | Ricky’s

For an uber-posh take on cheesecake, rock up to Ricky’s—one of the best restaurants in Noosa—order a glass of champers and kick back with their luxe dessert menu. This delicious dish is light and fluffy, and comes with rhubarb and strawberry soda, granola, and basil. Yes please.

Raw Citrus Cheesecake | Vanilla Food

If you prefer your cheesecake without the cheese, then you could certainly do worse than the raw, vegan, sugar-free, paleo offerings from Vanilla Food. It’s like superfood in a dessert. Which practically makes it a superdessert! Pair it with a green smoothie (or a Clandestino coffee if you’re not quite THAT virtuous) and fill your face. These guys are renowned for serving up some of the best cakes on the Sunshine Coast and they’re not what you’d expect.

Sour Cherry Cheesecake Dainut | Van Wegen’s

You’ve tried cronuts and cruffins and duffins, but Van Wegen’s in Mooloolaba is the only place you’ll find the dainut. If you needed another reason to visit Van Wegen’s (as if the sausage rolls, croissants, and cupcakes weren’t enough?) the Dutch croissant pastry filled with lemony, creamy sour cherry cheesecake filling will definitely justify the trip.

Cointreau Cheesecake | Pitchfork

We all know Pitchfork has a seriously strong dessert game, but this Cointreau cheesecake with chocolate gelato takes it to the next level. The best way to end a kick-arse meal is obviously with a slice of one of the best cakes on the Sunshine Coast. Nom nom nom.

Passionfruit cheesecake gelato | Colin James Fine Foods

I scream, you scream, we all scream for… gelato. The legendary Hinterland team at Colin James have taken their already-amaaaazing gelato and gone one step better. They combine local Jersey cream, fresh summer fruit, AND cheesecake filling, to give us passionfruit cheesecake gelato. And if you have a particular flavour combo that makes you weak at the knees, give the team a call—they do bespoke gelato flavours for special events! We kid you not!

Know of another Sunshine Coast restaurant, café, or cake shop who’s mastered the cheesecake? Tell us in the comments!
