You know those bowls full of a bright coloured smoothie-like substance that keep rocking up to the table next to you at breakfast? Yep, well, we’re talking about those.
And FYI if you’ve been living under a rock or blanket or just locked up inside somewhere for the past two years, they’re called acai bowls.
Now, first thing is first. Pronounced “ah-sigh-ee”, this superfood berry will give you superpowers when teamed with fresh fruits, blended and then garnished with nuts. At least that’s what we choose to believe.
On to point numero deux…Where can you find the best acai bowls on the Sunshine Coast? Fantastic question! It just so happens we’ve been doing a bit of
eating research and have rounded up those that are serving up the tastiest acai concoctions across the region. You ready? Thought so!
Depot in Noosaville do a ripper organic acai bowl that’s filled to the brim with granola, banana, strawberries, blueberries, and coconut. Loaded with copious amounts of antioxidants, this version of the whopper foodie trend will leave you feeling like you’re the healthiest person on the planet for skipping the pancakes with extra bacon this morning. Nice one!

Yep, we’re quite aware we mention these guys A LOT. And no, they’re not paying us anything except in a bunch of excitable emojis. Does that count? We just think that if a place does something or in this case, everything well, then who are we to not include them. Decisions Ola Bowls featuring acai, is a deliciously healthy mix of nut-free granola, the freshest of seasonal fruits, mixed seeds, and coconut flakes. So pretty, you’ll feel obliged to take an Insta pic before gobbling it down.

Coco Loco Club
Newcomer on the scene, Coco Loco Club (god, we love saying that), is getting the southerners all hot and bothered with their epic acai bowls. This healthy-focused café only opened about two weeks ago, but already they’ve got health nuts wrapped around their berry-stained fingers. Head to Moffat, grab a takeaway bowl and hit the beach for a dose of salt, sand, sea, and superfoods.

We are big, massive, HUGE fans of Ak-tiv, and with a second store opening in December last year, it seems we’re not the only ones. Hashtag ak-tiv and your screen will become crammed with some of the best breakfasts on the Sunshine Coast including their incredible acai bowls. Our flavour of the month? The Summer Mango Acai Bowl—a creamy base of acai, mango, banana and coconut water, then piled with pineapple, banana, coconut, passionfruit, and granola. Summer in a bowl. Seriously!

So, you’ve had your fair share of acai bowls, and need something that ain’t so commonplace? Acai Brothers is your place. Having just opened at the end of 2015, this superfood bar blends up some interesting combos. Where to start? Anywhere, is a safe bet, but some of our picks include their lemon acai bowl topped with local fruits and the decadent raw choc peppermint acai bowl. If there was a God of Health, this would be his breakfast spot.
Where: 1/3 River Esplanade, Mooloolaba
This place is a franchise, which normally is a turn-off, but somehow Raw Energy manages to keep their cool on the Sunny Coast scene. With stores smattered across the region, this is our very own healthy food chain, and with a seductive acai bowl on all the menus, there’s a whole lot to love. Acai berries blended with fresh apple juice, banana, and strawberry and served with toasted muesli, fresh banana, strawberries, and coconut. Boo-yah!

Alrighty, so we’re going to bend the rules here and give a shout out to the Dragonfruit Smoothie Bowl at Glass. We know it’s not an acai bowl, but we also know that you’re going to love it anyway. Topped with bananas, blueberries, banana, granola, and chia seeds, you can’t go wrong with this hot pink bowl of goodness.
