7 Of The Best Barbers On The Sunshine Coast

By Brooke Darling - 06 Oct 2016

Gettin’ the chop? Or just need a spruce up?

It’s official, if you’ve got a mop of hair hanging off your chin or you’re a dude with a hair style that needs constant tending to, then no doubt you and your barber are already tight.

But, if like us, you’re new to this man-hair-focused world, where a beard is judged on its shape and weight rather than what’s caught in it (seaweed from yesterday’s surf, anyone?), then you’re most likely going to need some pointers on where to head for your next trim.

Don’t sweat! We’ve saved you that awkward lopsided cut, and hunted down the best barbers on the Sunshine Coast for your next bro-mance.

Captain Sip Sops

Way more than just a barbershop, Captain Sip Sops helped to propel the resurgence of barbers on the Sunshine Coast. Found on a main drag in the industrial area of Noosa, this concept store pulls together all things surf–think menswear, boards, and everything in between–and has garnered a loyal following for sleek haircuts and even sleeker shaves.
Where: 175 Eumundi-Noosa Road, Noosaville
Contact: 0432 409 255

The Barber’s Shed

A no-appointment policy makes this old-school barber a first-in-best-cut kinda place, which we love. After all guys, you’re still men. And spontaneous cuts should be the way you work (leave the 5-week-in-advance hair booking to us girls). Kitted out with massive timber mirrors and the coolest black leather barber chairs this end of the coast, if you’re in Caloundra The Barber’s Shed have got your beard, I mean back.

General Officer

Get the shear of a holiday at Peregian Beach’s General Officer and you can browse through the tees, caps, shorts and artworks in store while you wait. Tucked down a side alley off the main village square, you’ll feel like a local just by knowing this place exists. Got the girl with ya? There are plenty of boutiques nearby for her to while away the trimming minutes.
Where: 3/10 Grebe Street, Peregian Beach
Contact: 07 5448 3165

Scumbag Barber

Don’t let the name fool you, these blokes aren’t that bad. Actually, they’re pretty proper and they’ll whisk the modern man in and out before you can say “Scumbag Barber”! If you do have to wait your turn, there’s manly chesterfield couches to lounge on. Stock up on wax, bloke-y combs and the likes, before taking that freshly pruned beard for a spin.
Where: 2 Project Avenue, Noosaville

TigerStyle Barber Shop

After-school trim for the little punk or pre-wedding preen, TigerStyle Barber Shop is the place to head if you’re near the hinterland. The newest kid on the Sunny Coast barber block has a Scandi-style interior that we’re all over. Plus, if you’re an eco-friendly chap, then you’ll dig the locally made Organic Beard + Hair Gear products they’ll be using on you.
Where: Shop 56, 52-64 Currie Street, Nambour

Logan’s Barber Lounge

Note to self: If you’re going to compete with the best barbers on the Sunshine Coast, this is how you do it. Blackboard pricelist. Old-school fridge stocked with tipples. Swivel barber chairs that you’d kill to have in the office. Basically, if you’re visiting from Bris Vegas or further afield, Logan’s is the closest you’ll get to a barber shop that’s dripping with a city vibe.
Where: 3/19 First Avenue, Mooloolaba

Mad Barbers

If having a game of pool while you wait to get the chop, sounds like your idea of pre-cutting heaven, then do yourself a favour and head straight to Mad Barbers in Mooloolaba. After you’ve sunk the black, grab a coffee from next door and plant yourself in one of their comfy swivel chairs—now, for the boys to work their magic.
